I actually know most of those guys, and they are not exactly crybaby rich boys ;)

And yes, a turbo does kick the pants into a 2F..

I still think it's BS or a very slanted watered down version of the truth. No way in hell MAF stole 10,000 dollars from this guy, I just don't buy it. If the guy did not take MAF to court over the 10,000 dollars, I honestly believe he fawked up the motor and tried to pass it off on MAF. But, it's America and i can believe what i want so:beer:

ask your friend if I can borrow 10,000 dollars, I'll pay him back when I get a chance, honest;)

an option could be a 2Fplus, it's the same 2f block but with 3f cams and 3f carburator matched to an h55 would help alot. the problem will be to find the 3f carburator in USA.

2F and 3F cams carry the same part number from Toyota.

FI would be a nice upgrade. That is the main reason I bought a 62 vs. 60.

Not sure why he would change the valves. Rebuild the head is fine, turn the crank 10 under is fine, regrind cam and lifters, punch out is fine too.

BTW, why did the mechanic say it needed rebuilt? Did he say it was wore out? How was it worn out? I just don't trust mechanics any more, sorry.

LOL, I looked at the date of the pirate thread, I thought maf started selling that hi-po something like a year ago. If that thread was from 2004, and the guy was telling the story like it was 2 years before that, the dates don't add up.

MAF engine has been around for a long time....

If I recall I was looking at that motor in the late 90's

Since then I have seen one article that was published in the Toyota trails. And, since I am continually dubious about magazine stories (not that the writer was not honest but more that the companies try harder when they know they are getting publicity) I have yet to hear of anyone else that has been happy with the Hipo 2f that MAF sells.

I am sure they are out there. on paper it is a great motor. Really pricy but..

Plus, I HAVE had MAF tell me to go screw off among other bad experiences with customer service. They might be different now. But I ain't rushing to find out ;)

I know there is someone in the 40 section that has posted about one. that's my only reference on this site. I'm not claiming to know anything about the quality of the hi-po 2f or MAF's return policy, just that the story sounds fishy. I know if someone took 10g's of mine, there would a least be a broken arm or a missing finger.:grinpimp:

Thanks for posting that Mace!
I ordered a MC from them, and had a GREAT experience...Granted that was only ONE experience...Most times, I go through C dan.
Actually, the price on that re bult 3f seems right in line with the quote I got from NAPA...3,500.00.
I did notice that the HiPo engines do require PREMIUM fuel...:crybaby:
NO THANKS!
So, where would you buy an engine from, or would you just rebuld it your selves?
Im still on the fence as to what I want to do when the engine goes south...Someone on here said they typically need a re build at around 215K...Mines running pretty good, its just sluggish and NO FUN getting to the trails due to no power!

Are those re built or are they direct pull out? Its a little unclear from the site.
I like that price a hell of a lot better than 3.5K

I think turbo it's a little pricy don't you think so? how much money would it take to add a turbo into a 2F?
anyone in here with a 2F turbo?

Mace has one.

I read an old thread on the diff turbos that will work, and which work best. I thought the issue was more how to fab it up right? seemed a bit complicated to my unknowing self...

I like him..................he's silly

thank's sl33py.
Mace can you tell me about your 2F turbo? what internals did you have to change, what did you had to do?
How does it run?

The motor that it is on is an old tired ass 2F that is bone stock.

Stock intake and exhaust manifold with an adapter that allows me to bolt a T4 to the exhaust manifold. It is a draw through turbo system that actually, is amazingly simple. The only PITA is the exhaust manifold to turbo adapter.

Dyno'd 142 RWHP with 4.11's and 40" tires. And that is through a SM420, dual tcases and a 14 bolt. Estimated parasitic power loss is over 60 hp (a stock mustang 5 speed loses 50 hp throught he drivetrain). So I am over 200 hp from a engine with over 160K on the ticker.

Not bad..

I spent about $350 plus some hoses on it. BUt I got a sokin deal from some guy in AU that had it sitting around. They were a mass produced item in AU for a while..

Hey Mace, any details on the turbo, A/R, Trim etc? How much boost do you run? Does the T4 you have have an internal waist gate?

Airreasearch T04
AR 60 trim

up to 12 lbs.

there is a bypass but it realy does not do much ;)

It is VERY hard to get over 12 psi (6K or so)

Found a cool website for picking a turbo and estimating out put at Ray Hall Turbocharging (http://www.turbofast.com.au/TFmatch.html). Says with a 4200cc engine with max 3800rpm and 12 # boost you would net 284 bhp (they recommend a Garrett T25) and 321 bhp inter cooled. :D Now that sounds like a kick in the pants.

sweeet!! but one stupid question? is that 2H turbo kit compatible with the 2f?
thank's Mace for the response, seems like you gained some good power with that turbo, i can't imagine my 60 with 200hp's :whoops: think i wet my pants.

other thing Mace, what about the services of the engine?
