yes B thats what i was getting at about some states not being able to test if the drive cycle hasnt been achieved yet.

just how tough is it for you to read between my lines? i think i'm pretty good at describing things on this here cumputer. just be glad I'M NOT YELLING AT YOU ALL OF THE TIME. THIS IS HOW I USED TO TYPE ON THE INTERNET BUT EVERYONE WAS SAYING THAT I WAS YELLING AT THEM. I THOUGHT THAT, THATS WHY THE EXCLAMATION(sp) POINT WAS DREAMED UP !!!!!!!!!!!!!.

your not OLD! are you :D cant hear us whiper snapers uh?

instigator,

>> your (sic) not OLD! are you <<

As a matter of fact I am, since I was around in the early 6th century.

What I have read about OBD-III is that it will use roadside sensors rather than cell phone type technology. In fact, the infrastructure needed will facilitate "self-driving" roads where your vehicle maintains speed and distance without your input. Ford has had cell phone narcing for years. When they first gave away built in cell service most owners had no idea their car was sending recorded telemetry to Henry at night. I remember it caused a stir. You have to wonder if GM is using On-Star info to gather data about it's owners.
I understand that OBD-III is being tested in some states already. The two ways they are planning on getting around your 4th and 5th amendment rights are by charging you extra if you opt to be tested the old way and by sneaking a form in with the rest of your purchase paperwork.
I'm on the fence about it. If it was just emissions I could live with it, even though I would have been in violation the last year or so my CE light has been on. It would eliminate my bi-yearly trips to the emissions station. Once they start using the info for other things, it could get real big brotherish. I mean, we are talking about the same governments that sell the information you are required to give them to anybody who asks and they don't even charge much!

to be read with a grain of salt considering the source,

GM already has the OnStar set and ready to go .
Hell the radio adds even say it in a round about way (Mr Jones your air bag has gone off etc) OBDII already rats you out if you plug in and print codes . Air bag went off at 40 mph with your foot on the brake for x amount of time ABS pump working or not seat belt on etc . If the codes get pulled when your in a fender bender after telling them you were on the brakes and doing 25 but they see you were doing 50 and no brakes = Game Over :'(

Not only passed, but passed well within margins. This is with no EGR and a busted cat. Some bonehead bashed it on some rocks and it rattled for a while until all the busted chunks of honeycomb spit out the tail pipe. :( I cleared the codes this morning, filled it 3/4 full of fuel and ran it at 2000 RPM while I sat and waited for my turn trying to heat up what was left of the cats.
67 ppm on the HC. 220 is passing
0.2 % CO, 1.2 passes
13.4 CO2
No NOx cause they can't dyno test a AWD :D

CE light came on on the ride back to the shop. EGR low flow and Low catalyst efficiency. :flipoff2:

Go Gumby Go Gumby Go Gumby Go Gumby

Fawkin NJ buttmunches told me I gotta go for the tilt test. Koffer I blame you for jinxing me by telling me about it. :flipoff2:

Course that was a 2 months ago and I haven't gone yet. :flipoff2:

ah ah, :D hey didnt they make a movie here receintly about you? (beowulf that is) was a french or foriegn film?

Koffer I blame you for jinxing me by telling me about it.

I maybe able to get you some help if it didnt get put in as failed at the DMV for it :D

Hook me up Koffer, please. No, was not entered into their system at all. After I waited 1-1/2 hr in line, they put a tape measure to the rear corner of the driver door and told me I was more than 4" over stock. I said, uh, yeah, no sheet. :D Then they said bye bye and gave me the number for tiltworld in MoTown. I'd prefer not to have to go through that, but if I do, then I will put on the swampers and go over. May as well only do it once. They told me if I came back for another inspection and I was higher than stated on the tilt slip, that I'd have to go through it again.

Thanks dude.

junk, how do you like living in a state where you cant even pump your own gas? and also have to deal with a$$es like that. i feel for ya man good luck

i live in GA which is the cheapest in the land. right now its $1.23 for regular

quote "I'm starting to really like a 95, it seems you can get away with resetting the check engine where as with a 96 and up they plug you up and will fail you if its been reset."

Here in Georgia, if you have a 96 up (as Instigator stated) they check by hooking up through OBDII. If it has been reset (Yes some diagnostic software can clear) they will not pass you. Where as if you have a 95 you can reset without being penalized because they just run a sniff test.

quote from Boewolf "So, if you're saying that some states will fail a vehicle that hasn't completed a drive cycle then that may be a true statement. It seems logical they would simply not "Pass" that vehicle but that may be a moot point."

That is basically it.

There is a big difference between resetting and using the appropriate software to clear fault code from memory. I think that is where the confusion was.

Isn't it outragous, I paid a $1.18 two weeks ago at sams and now its back up to $1.22
