Hi guys,

I'm preparing to tackle some PM on my '97 that'll occur in about two weeks. I have a parts list going, and I'd appreciate any feedback on what I may be missing while I'm "in there." I have the .pdf version of the FSM and have already spent a fair bit of time researching on mud.

BTW, pricing is from the online storefront of my local dealership. The site offers better than list pricing, and I can pick up in person to avoiding shipping charges. The dealership is less than a mile from my office and most orders come in the next day. I'm not opposed to shopping elsewhere, but this is the best deal I've found since CDan retired.

For those who have worked with them, I would also like to know if RC replaces the o-rings, vibration insulators and grommets on the fuel injectors they service. I do plan to call RC Fuel Injection directly to find out. These small bits aren't expensive, but no sense in buying them if RC is going to do it.

Thanks.

Grommet for PCV
Washers for fuel filter (can’t remember if the new one comes with them) @beno

Define injector service? Removal? If so;
Rubber injector gaskets
Intake plenum gaskets
EGR gasket
EGR studs and nuts
Water bypass lines

Thanks for the response. You're absolutely right, I forgot the PCV grommet.

I will be removing the injectors and sending them to RC for service. My EGR was "deleted" by Torfab. I believe the components are still there, but with a resistor installed. I'll look into the necessary EGR parts given the mod. Thanks again.

No, they don't. You need (4), two for each banjo bolt, on either side of the ring: 90430-12026
You're also supposed to replace the banjo bolt; whether you do or not is up to you. It really depends on the condition of the hex and the sealing face. If you have trouble getting it off, you'll have trouble getting it back on and sealing properly. Remember to break the banjos loose before you remove the filter mounting bolts, otherwise you risk stressing the fuel lines.

It's a cheap part: 90401-12097. It's also the same as the fuel tank banjo ;), which I'd recommend you look at. No sense replacing one filter and not the other:
in tank filter: 23217-16490
clip, for filter: 23219-03010

These part numbers are supposed to be valid for '95-'97, but I haven't checked, since I only have '95s.

Thanks for the input. According to this image, part 23300P should include the fuel filter and four "bolt gaskets." Is that correct? I can double check with the parts department before I place my order. I can't imagine needing to replace the banjo bolts, but will remember to inspect them thoroughly.

I've updated the list to include the pcv grommet, intake plenum gaskets & egr gasket. I added an inline fuel filter or air/water separator for the PCV hose. My EGR was "deleted" but left in place by Torfab. I'll go ahead and order the egr gasket because it's cheap, but I'm not sure how to address the EGR. Maybe I'll give Torfab a call and ask them for guidance.

I was still wondering if I'll need the small parts for the fuel injectors. They're identified in the image above as parts 23291, 23250C & 23250B. I called RC & spoke with a tech who assured me that they would replace all of these on each of the injectors after servicing.

Thanks again, guys. Any other suggestions? This is a little deeper than I'd originally intended to go, but I'm confident I can handle it. Nothing too crazy in this project, right?

How about a new air filter while your there?

What about that heater coil thing against the firewall, near plug 6? Might be a good time to replace.

Great suggestion, but I replaced it last year. Otherwise it would be on the list. Every spring the local dealership sends out a mailer advertising any air filter for $14.99 and any cabin air filter for $18.99. The guy at the counter was a bit shocked when I brought in the flyer and asked for a filter for the 80. Apparently their cost was more than I paid (though not by much).

Not sure what you're referring to, but I'll look into it.
