So I'm finally settling into the new digs and I'm getting the garage setup.
Got the electrician to safely get my line from the house to the garage squared away for 240v.

The next thing on the agenda was to get the bench top surface and parts cleaning tank assembled and functioning.

I had an old photography emulation table that I've had in the old house but never put to use the tank portion.
So yesterday I headed down to the local steel house and asked for some 16 gauge stainless steel for the top surface.

Here's the process of the table.

That top looks like it might be particle board, if so, seal the edge in front that I can see or else it will swell and make a mess in the future.

Nice work Jimmy! I really like that sink. Haven't seen one of those since college (architecture school had a photo lab - black and white film was fun!)

I'd use the current top until it falls apart. Until that happens check around with local plastics suppliers for a 1" thick sheet of polypropylene or polyethylene or even PVC to replace the current top. My current employer makes lab furniture out of those materials when it needs to survive around chemistry. If you were closer I could help you out with material...

I love this idea! I have a relatively small garage and space is at a premium. I might have to borrow this idea. Do you foresee an issue with having to move stuff off the bench top before you can use the sink? Would it be crazy to make the sink slide out from under the bench top?

Thank Nick. Honestly this did pop into my mind when I was building it. I was just focused on getting it up and usable. But I suppose I can create a funneled drip edge to drip back into the tub and not into the material.

That's a great idea. After thinking about it, it's doable. I don't feel it will be an issue about the surface being up. I was thinking to put stuff on a cart after washing then put it down.
