i would of loved it if the top was shipped in a week, but then the tops would be easy access to everyone and they wouldnt be a rare sight anymore. Think about it *hint* *jeep*

around here, Cruisers by themselves are a rare sight..... only a couple of us around:frown:

I have owned two of the Paki top/bowsets. The first I think MDH33 has - it was black vinyl, two layers methinks, I paid extra and had the frame powdercoated, and it was pretty damn durable and good looking to boot. Bought SS turnbuckles. The 2nd one I bought on impulse - was a 7 window canvas set with bows, and resold to a friend to put more money towards an Orion. I've since collected most of an OEM bowset and 3 OEM doors (one NOS never used), and am hoping someday to find funds to buy either another Paki top or the new American made - but money/time is short with other priorities.

I have an 88" Land Rover Series 3 that I keep a canvas top on - the canvak has lasted about 6 months and with the weather down here in Florida - needs a re-app soon.

Summary - the Paki stuff is worth exactly what you pay for it - I'd sort of be interested in a 7 window canvas top - and will follow this a bit to see what pricing ends up at delivered (but am not in a financial position to commit). Otherwise, I'll just be waiting until they work the bugs out of the American tops (als9 the material is top notch, but I don't like how thin it is).

Just my rambling .02 cents.

P.S. I'd sell the OEM stuff I've collected for an outrageous price if someone wanted to get it with a Paki top.

Just to be fair, Ehsan warned everyone that the canvas was not the best choice for a top material but enough people begged him and he obliged. Anyone who thinks that a canvas top can be put on, left out in the sun/rain/snow without deteriorating is deluded. Look back through some of the older group buys. He does sell a great vinyl top (I have one) but the majority of people seem to order the canvas.

My top isn't canvas but, some sort of s*** sucking vinyl crap....when I get time I'll post up a bunch of pictures of the useless son of a bitch......

Wow, 400 views and only 17 people would buy a Paki top if they were available today...not exactly the demand I was looking for.

what would seal the deal for me would be if I could order today and have within a month a whole package deal with repro oem type soft doors, bows, thick canvas, double sewn, even for $2K.

About the quality of the Canvas. I remember Ehsan posting the canvas he uses changes time to time in weight because it is/was the only canvas he could buy at the time.

I like the tops, and have considered buying one a couple of times. But I think the price is creeping out of trail truck territory. For a nice rig that wants to stay orginal the price is probably worth it. But the higher the shipping gets the less likely I am interested. For half the cost I can live with a Bestop Supertop all day long.

I would love a paki soft top, but if I could get an american made top with bows I'd be all over that too. I think the original look of the canvas tops is way better than that of tops made for j@@ps but fitted to 40's. Or if I could get the bows from Ehsan and a top locally that would work too

I would be interested in one for sure. It would not be something that I would buy the moment they became available, or pay upfront to be on a waiting list or anything but it would be on my list of things to buy as I slowly modify my cruiser to the way I want it.

To read the info posted in this thread on the Paki top is very interesting. I have read many comments about the Paki canvas top in various threads and have never seen anything but praise. I think it could be one of those things that gets a ceratin reputation for something its not. Kind of band wagon effect of people singing its praises that have never owned one or seen one in person. Not saying it i not a a great top because I have no idea, just interesting to actually see some negative/neutral comments.

Hello there everyone..
Just went through the thread and found interesting comments.. Here is what I have to say about our tops and stuff.. Below are my responses. .

I would need some proof of a better quality or warranty on my next one...as my 14 month old Paki top (wet 4 times) is falling a part as I type this.......:frown:
Can you be more specific? Post pics.. I am willing to face any criticism here about our products. If there is something that I did wrong, I am willing to face the facts and see what I can do about it.. You said you had a Vinyl top? What are the problems and when did you buy it? We had problems with the rust on the buckles a couple of years ago but we improved on the chrome coating and stopped getting that complaint. Let me know.

I'm also dissappointed in some of Ehsan's work. The overall fit and quality are good, but finer details are missing in some places. I've been reluctant to say much because he's a good man working very hard in a tough environment. I've said before how much I admire a guy that can start with a hammer and a rock and evolve into producing auto body parts like he does. A guy like that deserves to be rewarded.

But I would hesitate to buy another one unless I was sure the craftsmanship had improved.

Please dont be reluctant. Do post up pictures and point out the issues that you have with the top. I have to know exactly what the problems are to answer.
Thank you for the praise. But as someone said, if we make good stuff from scratch, we dont get any grace marks on quality.. :)
Ehsan

The fit on my first one was poor, but in fairness it may have been my body work, I am thinking of making my own, I have access to materials and a heavy duty stitcher so I may use mine for a pattern and give it a go. Then I can't whine. Larry
We test fit each top on our vehicles here before shipping. The fit should be good. Also. There is some adjustments in the bows that you can easily make to perfect the fit. Again.. Pics?
Ehsan

Fair criticism is only honest, why should folks hide the truth because someone works hard, mine fit like crap out of the box, Eshan did nothing when i contacted him, no help no suggestions etc. So before folks wait a year and the tops rot in pakistan waiting for a boat for a year( my tent guy said it was toast off the boat when he stitched some bad seams for me). I think folks need to know the truth, BTW I treated mine from the get go, many factory toyota tops lasted 20 plus years. I thought of ordering another incase it was just not measured right. But I decided I would try something else when I got the chance. Rant off. Larry

Here are the pictures that you sent me.. What exactly were your concerns? I could not find your email in my inbox.. The last email I got from you had these pics in it. Did yhou send the mail from some other address or from the bresnan.net one?

We bought canvas in bulk so we did not have this problem.

I hesitate to provide a detailed list of the reasons I think the craftsmanship is lacking. For most people, it's not about details -
Please do explain what details were off or lacking.. For me, the details do matter :). We put our hearts into our products so if there is a problem, it really hits us. We stand by our stuff and I am always available for contact.

Ehsan, thanks for the understanding attitude. I didn't take photos of my installation so I'll go back and take a few, email them to you with some descriptions, and give you a chance to look it over. I'm not interested in posting up a laundry list. I'd rather just know you're listening. Hopefully you'll hear from me by the end of the weekend. Thanks. theo

You all can take this however you want to but having been in middle eastern countries a few times and working with the locals alot i can vouch for him putting his heart into his work. Everyone i ever worked with was never happy until the job was done right. It might of taken a few attempts but eventually it was done great. If you ever seen what the locals had to work with tool / material wise you would be amazed with the outcome.

All that being said i have not gotten anything from Eshan before, but i think he is the same kind of guy.

Here are a few pictures, the first is the top fitted with all the slack out of the original bows as they came from Eshan, as you can see they are 3 to 4 INCHES short, Eshan can you see it? I also had to shorten the rrear bow by an inch and a quarter. The next is how I had to modify the side rails to make it fit, the third is a windshield piece I had to fab because I needed more from the front as well but it caused the sides to pull out at the windshield, but I have no hardtop so I had to make do, if this was ever fitted to a cruiser I call BS, I emailed you about this and posted the problem on the board and NEVER heard for you again until I thought of buying another because I have a friend here that has one that fits. Cheers, Larry
