I think they are worth waiting several months for. Especially considering the price.

I'd absolutely buy one, its the wait that kills me. I need instant gratification!

Why, considering stocking some in the States? Got one for me already??? Canvas with bows, please! Black, olive or kaki are all fine with me... ;0)

Thinking about it if the demand is there.

I will probably be in the market soon and I have been looking for bows. I would certainly consider it and have been waiting on the US version built in NC pricing (recently out) to compare to.

Love the look and know folks are happy with the Paki.

Brad

Alex,

I think that the demand is there.... The only problem that I might fore see is the bows, no bows thing..... you might end up with too many of one or the other depending on peoples needs.

Other than that, I know that the tops from Soft top guy look very promising..... some people may not care about the $400 difference and buy American made.....

I say go for it!

I would need some proof of a better quality or warranty on my next one...as my 14 month old Paki top (wet 4 times) is falling a part as I type this.......:frown:

What did you treat it with?

I would only do it with the bows.

I'm also dissappointed in some of Ehsan's work. The overall fit and quality are good, but finer details are missing in some places. I've been reluctant to say much because he's a good man working very hard in a tough environment. I've said before how much I admire a guy that can start with a hammer and a rock and evolve into producing auto body parts like he does. A guy like that deserves to be rewarded.

But I would hesitate to buy another one unless I was sure the craftsmanship had improved.

.02 :)

The fit on my first one was poor, but in fairness it may have been my body work, I am thinking of making my own, I have access to materials and a heavy duty stitcher so I may use mine for a pattern and give it a go. Then I can't whine. Larry

Just to be fair, Ehsan warned everyone that the canvas was not the best choice for a top material but enough people begged him and he obliged. Anyone who thinks that a canvas top can be put on, left out in the sun/rain/snow without deteriorating is deluded. Look back through some of the older group buys. He does sell a great vinyl top (I have one) but the majority of people seem to order the canvas. Herd mentality? Canvas is cool? I don't know. But let's not let this thread turn into "bash Ehsan's stuff". He makes the ONLY repro top and bows for a really great price that no one here in the states can even come close to.

Rant off.

;)

Fair criticism is only honest, why should folks hide the truth because someone works hard, mine fit like crap out of the box, Eshan did nothing when i contacted him, no help no suggestions etc. So before folks wait a year and the tops rot in pakistan waiting for a boat for a year( my tent guy said it was toast off the boat when he stitched some bad seams for me). I think folks need to know the truth, BTW I treated mine from the get go, many factory toyota tops lasted 20 plus years. I thought of ordering another incase it was just not measured right. But I decided I would try something else when I got the chance. Rant off. Larry

I've got an Eshan top. It looks nice on my 71. Got it fall of last year. I got what I paid for. I've got Dickie work pants that the fabric is thicker than the top. I've treated it twice with Canvak. I know it's canvas and this is something that has to be done. My truck is kept in the garage not outside. While doing the initial install I guess I pulled on one of the straps too hard and tore the top. Stiched it up myself. Looking back at some of the pictures of Eshans' earlier tops it looks like some of the quality changed. Knowing what I know now 1mo. or 1yr. it would not matter. It all depends on what you are willing to pay for and how long your willing to wait.

Are Eshan's bows compatible/interchangeable with OEM. I mean are they exact copies of stock bows. I would think that demand for them would be very high. With other OEM type top options becoming available (Soft Top Guy -here on mud) but no availability of bows and hardware yet, I would think stocking several bows and a few tops would make a lot of sense. I guess it depends what you would have to sell them for to make it worth it for you.

Yes, they are. The only difference I know of is Ehsan makes his with a sleeve so they can be broken down and shipped. The OEM ones have big C shaped pieces that fit into the body. Mine had to be cut in order to ship them.

"Just to be fair" followed by a list of false assumptions? For the record, then:
-I don't have a problem with the canvas. I have Canvak and know what it's for.
-I never begged anyone for anything, buddy.
-I park my cruiser under cover, not out in the elements.
-I read every Pakistan top post available here and elsewhere before ordering, while waiting, and a few after arrival.

I hesitate to provide a detailed list of the reasons I think the craftsmanship is lacking. For most people, it's not about details - like you said, it's about looking cool. I like the look, but it doesn't represent the main reason I bought one.

I already wrote about the respect I have for Ehsan and his crew. If I had to write a list of specific complaints, a lot of folks would probably write it off as being too picky. But after waiting a year and a half for my stuff, the excitement and anticipation tend to roll upwards. I was a little let down. That's all I ever wanted to say.

I don't want a bashing contest either. Just commenting on my experiences.

i would of loved it if the top was shipped in a week, but then the tops would be easy access to everyone and they wouldnt be a rare sight anymore. Think about it *hint* *jeep*
