I've decided I want to color match my new TJM bulbar, but wonder if I could save myself several hundred bucks and spray it myself.

Anyone have experience doing this? Any recommendations?

Unless you have a paint booth, spend the dough to do it right. It needs to be baked on. I had mine match powder coated on my previous 200. I think it was $500 but looked factory and never chipped.

Yes, you can, just depends how great you want it to look at the end of the day. Generally, you scuff/sand all the powder coat back so the paint will stick, then prime, then paint. I helped my buddy do it on his 4runner, he went for a flat color, which was super easy to spray.

I think I will go for it. It's only $60 for paint so if it sucks I'm not out much. That extra $400 can go towards my rear bumper.

I'll post some pics for Mud judgement when I'm done.

Go for it. I want to do the same when mine comes in.
Watching.
