OK, so I am really loving my LC and I have everything on the truck working in top order (just replaced a fog light lamp and fixed the seat heaters). When I bought the truck, I took it to ACC in Atlanta and had them do the 90K service along with a "while you're in there" laundry list. Recently I changed out a faulty O2 sensor, got a set of masters with fobs, and fixed all small odds and ends (stuck cup holder, replaced rear window switch bezel, shift lock override cover, spring button for rear headrest). There are a couple of dings on the molding but overall the hundy is in great shape. She has a little over 140k on the clock and purrs like a kitten.

I dumped the running boards and am gearing up for diff drop, shocks, springs, tires, and sliders as well as leather replacement seat covers from Aatlas1X.

THERE IS JUST ONE THING HOLDING ME BACK...Every time I see a 100 in the Riverock Green Mica (1C3), I get pissed b/c my LC is white. I love that dark gray color. I also think it looks really good with the gray interior.

So here are my options:

1. Have my 100 painted, keep my tan interior and call it a day since I am up to speed on the condition/maintenance of my vehicle.
or
2. Trade for the color I want and re-do everything necessary to get it up to 100%.

What would you guys do? I know getting it painted for any reasonable price will show the original color when the hood is up but do paint shops get into the door jams and other places you only see when the doors and back are open? How much should I expect to pay for a good paint job? Anything I should look out for or questions I should ask if I decide on getting it painted?

Maybe someone on this forum has one in riverock mica and wishes they had a white one...I can dream can't I?

Anyways, any advice/opinions would be much appreciated.

Neither! Do a body wrap! The type where you can have anything you want printed and they can cover your entire truck. You can do something really cool, like to the color you want, have it a satin finish and do aircraft rivets along all the panels, or a mud splash design, camouflage, or ????? You imagination is the you limit.
Pluses, if you trash a part of it, just peel off and replace with another printed panel, don’t like it, get a another one printed in a different scheme. It doesn’t scratch very easy and is quite tough! You can even have the pattern go over you windows also, like they do on busses. I’m not sure about price, put I was looking at having it done to my GSXR sport bike, and it was about $1000 clams. I don’t think it’s as expensive a good paint job and it doesn’t ruin your original paint if you ever want to sell or get back to original. I’m thinking of doing this to my rig after I get the wheels and lift out of the way.

Seriously...I need pros and cons.

Leave it white. You hate the paint. Now you have the go ahead to run all the tight trails you were afraid to because you might scratch the paint. Punish that paint with some good ol fashion natural pin striping. If you're happy sitting on the inside, what's the outside matter? You can do a lot more useful things with your money than paint. A new truck could be a handful of trouble and you'll feel terrible if you scratch it. Pictures would help us appreciate how ugly your truck is :p

I REALLY am serious! Just maybe not that scheme. But I like the options you have with a wrap and it is quite durable in the rough.
I tryed to give you some pros.

I would go with the wrap.

I won't be running this on tight trails for a while as it is my DD and I have to take clients out to lunch in it. Most I do is run power line trails and take it camping/mountain biking where it sees fire roads and the like. I'd like to get the color I have always wanted for the LC and enjoy it for a year or so until I get another DD. Then I can pinstripe the hell out of it!

The wrap jobs I have seen just aren't clean enough to be a DD. Especially over badging. I would consider it if this was just my weekend toy but its not. Plus, I just looked it up and it costs $2-3K. For that type of money, I would prefer my favorite color applied correctly to my favorite vehicle.

Any trails nearby Atl? Closest place I found is Durhamtown and Amicalola (getting old and boring quickly)

My Parents are from Dalton. There are a few fun places to get into between there and Chattanooga.

Back to the topic...I guess there aren't a lot of people on here who share my passion for getting the color they want...by any means necessary.

I wouldn't paint it... I think it will devalue it when the time comes to sell it... It sounds like you have taken good care of it... Maybe you should list it locally and look around for a Riverrock Mica... I have a Riverrock Mica but I've always liked the white 100's... For the money a paint job costs you could do so many other things even if you don't trail ride it for awhile...

Trade me! We can work out any value differences in cash... seriously!

Do some soul searching.....you will come to the conclusion that Riverrock is GAY....unless you are gay....then go for it.

From what I've seen around the cost of a paint job is not worth it. I was looking for the same color you are but I just couldn't find one for the price in the condition I wanted. I instead found a really nice one for a really good price and bought it despite the color. I've decided to stick with it because the nice paint jobs run around $8K from what I've heard.

I really like the River Rock Green but $8k just isnt even close to worth it.

If it helps, I really like the white LC's I think they look really clean

Back to the issue at hand. If I paint my LC Riverock Mica and the color was a valid color for the year of my cruiser (1999), and that color was available with the current color of my interior (tan)...Does this negatively affect the resale value of my truck?

That really depends how you sell the truck and who's buying it. Almost anyone who buys it will ask why you changed from the factory color and might suspect something weird. If you want to shell out that much cash for a nice paint job go ahead. A crappy paint job will affect the value more than changing the color.

hmmmm... I have 159K on mine right now... mine isn't perfect but i feel like i have taken good care of it also using it like a cruiser should be... all the proper maintenance has always been done... i do have a couple dents but i also just added OME 865 coil springs and all new Ironman Shocks so basically all new suspension... the new suspension feels great... send me a PM and I can tell you alot more... i have all receipts for everything i've done over the years...

I wasn't thinking anywhere near 8 grand. Thanks for the input. I had it in my head that you could get a pretty decent paint job for $2500-3000. That is getting close to the max I would want to pay for a paint job seeing how that is probably how much cash I will have to put into a trade to bring it up to speed with tune ups and miscellaneous repairs.

That is what I am trying to figure out...Price of trading to a same year Riverock colored LC plus $ spent bringing it up to 100% Vs. Painting mine.

I know someone selling a rivahrawk grün truck u could buy. 6.5k, or 5 without the African outBack drawers and rack
