How much? Does it mount to the lug nuts on the spare?

Check the site. It's on a pre-order special price right now. It will have to go up after the preorders time is up. I wish it could be cheaper, but the cost of aluminum and everything else that goes into this adds up quickly.

It mounts like a trasharoo, but better. It has 2 400lbs ratchet straps that hold it very securely to any tire tire. You can also strap it to things like ladders, racks, etc. In theory.

Security is always a concern with these items, but no matter how it secures, you'll want something like a bike cable lock to keep it from being yanked easily. A cable lock through the spoke of the wheel and the tracks should keep everything semi secure. One of the beauties of how it attaches, it takes about 10 seconds to remove it from the tire, and the shovel, axe, and anything else you strap to it comes with it too. I take mine off any put it in the garage after each trip to really ensure its secure.

Cool. Will it hold four trax?

Maxtrax, yes. It will hold almost 6 I believe. Definitely 5. It's extremely adjustable to fit any tracks and as many of them as possible.

There's a lot more info on my site: owlexpedition.com

Although I don't have the Owl Expedition version, I can confirm that a rigid recovery board carrier is a beautiful thing. You can mount things all over it and not have to remove anything to get to the boards. Also, no fiddling with alignment on mounting pins or turning those little retention ears with cold or wet hands. I might have to switch to the OE one, just for the weight savings.

Just about to put my order in for the media mount and the lights. I did notice that you have instructions on your site for mud flaps. Is that a product you are no longer offering?

Im currently not offering the mud flaps. I had a decent amount of interest, then it quickly fell off. Now it seems to be desirable again. I may do another run in the semi near future, once I get into a good rhythm with other projects.

I wasn't aware that mount existed. Did you have to modify to fit 4? Everything I can find says it only fits 2. It's nice, but definitely lacks a number of features I've incorporated into mine.

It fits 4 without mods but it's tight. I don't think it compares to yours necessarily except for the obvious. It's got a very different attachment method (base plate attaches to spare carrier lug studs and carrier attaches to base plate) which I like. Almost like a hitch receiver.

Right off the bat, I like that yours is aluminum for weight savings and rust resistance. I like the adjustability and I like that it's already drilled for quick fists and other mounts. I had to drill all of mine.

Your intro price is definitely comparable to what I paid for the mount I have. I think it's a good deal. I mainly just posted to say that this is my favorite style of recovery board mount and I'm glad better options are popping up.

Ordered! Exactly what I was looking for and the price is fair.

How many Maxsa Escaper Buddies will it fit? They don't stack super well.

Sorry! Meant to respond earlier but got distracted. Thanks for the order! It should be able to fit at least 4. It actually will fit 6 maxtrax, but they do stack very tightly. I will take some measurements this weekend to double check the maxsa, but I can't imagine it not fitting 4.

Hey Mud!

So this weekend I finally found time to work on the relay kit for my lights. These are now much nicer, but work the same as before.

Why relay kit?

- the relay kit allows LX/LC to operate the lights via the door and/or a switch with an LED indicator.
- it bypasses the factory computer in the LX for door operation and ensures safe operation via switch.
- it comes with all the wiring, connectors, taps, etc. needed except a 12+ power wire with a fuse from the battery. (LC will need 8 nutserts, nutserts tool, and bolts/washers for mounting the light brackets to the already existing holes on the frame. No drilling!
- the relay kit will work with all previous versions of the Owl Expedition light kits.

So now I'd like to gauge interest. I don't have all the materials to start cranking these out, but if I have an idea of who would want the kit, I can start ordering enough supplies. Id guess the relay kit will be an additional $40-50 so with the DIY light kit you'd be looking at 128-138 for the full setup.

As always, you guys rock and thanks for the continued support!
