Turns out that gap is exactly this tall and I had a couple boxes to put in that gap. I’m considering storage options for that space for next time.
Really didn’t notice it at all. The mattress is pretty thick. I might look into a custom solution for that space, though it would have been nice if Lexus made a flap for it similar to the flap at the back of the battery. With the mattress on top, I think you would not feel the gap right? I used that solution for camping in my previous 200 that was Base with 3-row seat. I think that also had a gap, I can't remember if I shoved a couple of duffle bags in there though.
Any comparisons (off-road) with the Defender?I'm interested to see how the 2-row LX700 looks with everything folded down. In the 3 row that I have, I love it because it's completely flat with the 2nd and 3rd row seats down. Toss a mattress back there and it's good to go. I camped in it last weekend and it was great. I also use the 3rd row in a pinch, so it's nice to have.
Edit: it looks like the photo below. Not flat, so more work to use it to sleep in. Not sure the extra space is worth that trade off for me.

I was pretty shocked at the size of the gap between the seats, and totally agree that they should have designed a fold away flap or cover to fill that gap. That huge gap made it feel like an afterthought in the design.Really didn’t notice it at all. The mattress is pretty thick. I might look into a custom solution for that space, though it would have been nice if Lexus made a flap for it similar to the flap at the back of the battery.

Did you have to put a non-refundable deposit down to special order it?They said realistically 6-8 months.
Can you or anyone tell me the useable length between the front seats and the hatch in this set up?
Thanks. I was at Westside. Interesting Clear lake required a non-refundable for an inbound one. Maybe they have multiple calls for the car and want to reeeally secure the sale. I wish I could get past the stupid platform in the back, but knowing myself if I get one like that every time I open the hatch to load cargo, be it luggage or a portable fridge, I will be kicking myself in the butt. I am spoiled with sooooo much room in my 200HE 2-row.Sterling McCall - Clear Lake required $2500 non-refundable deposit for mine. I only did it because it was a week out and I knew the numbers. Also, they have another Earth OT on the showroom floor... Maybe West/Northside doesn't require non-refundable deposits?
500 refundable deposit. But no guarantees they can even get one. The custom order process through Lexus is absurd. Basically they send a request to Lexus. It gets denied or accepted within 3 weeks or so. If denied we try again and wait. He said the last special order 700h took 3 tries. Then the 6 to 8 month clock begins.Did you have to put a non-refundable deposit down to special order it?
The dealer closest to me says a 2-row would be a special order and because of that I would need to deposit a non-refundable $5k. They gave me the same 6 months-ish timeline. They would accept a refundable deposit of $2,5k if I were to accept one of the inbound 3-row OTs they will get around August. To me, this distinction sounds dumb. If I special order and get cold feet when the car is here, they will sell it anyway, 2-row or not. They could have secured me as a customer with (almost) certainty to sell a 2-row unit, but let me go to maybe ask another dealer for a refundable deposit. Unless all Lexus dealers act the same.
I am the same way. And would be pissed to spend more on a delete kit that is sure to be released by Goose Gear, etc.Thanks. I was at Westside. Sterling McCall on the southside locked my OT up for $1,000 refundable. I caught it before it hit customs. This was for the 3 row though.Sterling McCall - Clear Lake required $2500 non-refundable deposit for mine. I only did it because it was a week out and I knew the numbers. Westside Lexus in 2024If I recall correctly, it seems like @Joe T had a refundable deposit in Houston...
