I see a lot of guys using a bike rack on rear swingout, heres a bike used by the military, sactioned by the pentagon and made by a companty in cambridge Ma its a pro series (1000.00 ish) and I swaped in ALL high end parts, this is a great backup for deep off road and having this folded up in rear is a way out if your rig cant make it. I am 240lbs ride this hard, real hard and never damaged the all aluminium frame. This bike weighs almost nothing, can be stowed inside or in an 80 attic.

Beats walking. Couple of decades ago when I was riding, I used to let the :princess: drive the truck out, I'd ride
my Rocky Mtn Hammer. After 20 kms, I'm waiting for quite a while for her to catch up. Best backup ever.

Indeed Ive seen many mtn bikes in moab and ouray pass you on the trail and just keep going. Im a tad too old for that type of action but I still break it out and on a long range road trip it good to have when rolling solo

Which model is that? The Paratrooper Elite retails for $2500...Paratrooper or Paratrooper Pro?

I'm a bigger guy myself (245lbs ride ready) and have upgraded my brakes on the bikes I ride regularly to the 4 piston Zee brakes. If you have centerlock hubs, I'd also go with the ice tech freeza rotors (they have additional cooling fins).

Im guessing 27-30lbs on that.

Climbing out 7000ft is very different than descending 7000ft : food for thought if this is truly a worst case scenario breakdown option. Start training now for some real world “escapes”. depending where you journey with your rig- Are you 5-10mi. Off the beaten path.......or 50-75mi. ??? and how long will that take you to do 60mi. ?

Having just done A leisurely 7500ft of climbing over 60mi. on a Singlespeed mtn bike.....I can safely say I’d rather Have a 2meter Ham radio exit option to have me covered and save the biking for fun.

Also- big bike rides run into a host of other problems.

its a pro that I juiced with super hi end parts so its actually better than the highline for about 700 less.
