I thought the extra fan was to aid Air Con efficiency, or am I wrong. I wish I had a fan to force air onto the condenser when I traffic to help keep the Air Con cold. Have a read of this article as it might help. The 80 series men used to modify there fan clutches for this reason.

Tuning and Understanding your Toyota Viscous Fan Clutch

^^^^^^ it is. You are correct. The fan (pusher fan) blows air across the A/C condenser (first) but also helps move air through the radiator behind the condenser. Remember, the TOTAL health/function of your cooling system is important because your A/C system works in conjunction with it (even if not by design).

Actually...I am quite amazed at how well the pusher fan works, considering it's relatively small size and the limited area it moves air across.

Is vehicle actually overheating or is it faulty guage? Water boils at 212 degress [w/no coolant mixed in]. A radiator cap raises boiling point 3 degrees for every pound of pressure. Most t-stats are set to open around 195 degrees. Normal operating temp is around the 200+ degree area depending on where the temp sensor is reading the temp and outside ambiant temperature. Guages fluxuate and don't read a consistant number, that is why a lot of manufactureres don't use guages and just use lights. People panic to easy seeing erratic guage readings. I don't think the temp readings you posted are out of line especially pulling trailer and if it was hot out.
Confirm the problem before throwing money at it.

I have got to agree, I would never remove the OEM fan. The electric fan might be working better due to it activating earlier. Coolant won't boil until 260f or around that figure and Toyota put fail safes in place. I would be more concerned with transmission temps and checking the fluid more frequently. But if the electric fans give you piece of mind then who am I to disagree. Take a picture of your set up so we can see it.
