G'day, does anyone have an overdrive on ur 4 speed box behind the petrol 2F motor. I'm chasing some more legs for open road drives.

Pretty sure no 4 speeds have an OD, but you could swap to a h55 transmission, 5 speed with an OD. I'm sure if you do a search on the swap you can find out everything you need to know.

Only one I know of is the Fairey Overdrive that hangs on the back of the transfer case. They went out of production a long time ago, and repair parts have to be custom made. Larger tires will help with faster road speed, but it will have just the opposite effect on trail crawl speed.

Thanks fellas, I contacted fairey but they said they don't make one for toyota, only landrover. Although I have also heard they can be put on the cruiser box. Any ideas if the 5 speed box off the 2h motor can bolt straight up to the 2f? Or is there an easy conversion? I'm going with 16" wheels and bigger tyres but struggling to find anything other than the sun raisier rims. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

The H55F 5 speed usually (always?) comes with a split transfer case. Not sure what you have now. The 5 speed from a 6 cylinder diesel will fit up pretty good to a 6 cylinder gasser. It will have the shifter tower coming up thru the floor in a different spot, and you may need to modify the floor for the additional height. The driveshaft lengths will need to be adjusted. I am soon to do an H55F into a 72 FJ 40 with a 2F and H42 4 speed. John

Mate that's great info, my old man has a slightly newer cruiser ute with the 2h diesel motor and five speed box. I believe this is the box you are talking about, pls keep me posted on how you go with you transfer. I would really appreciate any advice on how it went and any mods you encounter. That 5th gear would really come in handy running through the middle of Aus in my old petrol girl. Cheers
