Our "new" 96 Land Cruiser

Our 96 LC 218k with front and rear lockers stock for which @OTRAMM performed necessary fixes and maintenance. Don't plan any fancy mods to it. Rust spot on typical place under rear hatch window and on rear bumper which I may want to get taken care of before it gets worse. Undercarriage rust not too bad. Was planning to let my daughter drive it when she gets her license as I think she would be well protected in this tank, but my husband has been driving it every chance he gets and probably will want to use it when he goes hunting, and I anticipate will take it on as his own. Looking forward to meeting CLCC members and definitely would like to attend a tech day. When do you anticipate having a tech day?

Congratulations! That is one of the few green ones I have seen without failing paint. However, it does appear your transfer case is leaking. Your cross member looks to be covered in oil. Enjoy your new LC.

Thanks! I remember wishing I could buy one of these back in the late 90's. The paint is definitely failing, it's just hard to see in my pic. It was leaking in a lot different places and Ryan Bascom @OTRAMM fixed everything he found leaking and rebuilt the knuckles, fixed the rear brakes, etc. I think I'll have to have the undercarriage cleaned in order to know if anything new is leaking. The interior has a lot of wear and tear but the engine and mechanical stuff is more important to me. I enjoy driving it.

Typical torn leather in front seats. I am leaning toward getting them redone in cloth from @FloridaFJ80 when he gets cloth if it doesn't deplete our funds too much. Not sure how it would look tho with keeping leather in the back.

Yes, front and rear. Wasn't confident at first if they worked properly because the po never used them, and they were sticky at first. Have tested them in dirt a couple of times and they work fine.

Another option is SOR's (Specter Off Road) tough duck seat covers. They are very nice and look good AND are a whole lot cheaper than new leather.

Lots of little annoying things start to happen when they get up there in miles. Mostly none mechanical so if you can live with them you'll be fine.

Looked on your posts to see if you had any pics of yours but didn't find any. Ryan and Frank said the head gasket was probably done on ours. There are a lot of things that could use cosmetic work. I'd like to learn how to do some of the mechanical work on it myself, would save some cash.

Yeah, thats funny I don't think i've posted any pictures. Here's a recent one taken at Salvo NC. I've worked to keep it a close to new as I can. I like to have everything working as its supposed to. Body needs some work but that will be a little ways off.

Nice rig! We went to NC outerbanks for Spring Break. I love NC and wouldn't mind moving back there. Went to college there, and we were stationed there for 5 yrs.

We're planning to get an ARB bumper that Ryan has ordered for us. I wouldn't mind a swing-out tire rack like yours, but I hear they are expensive. We need new paint but that won't be for awhile. Yesterday I spent several hours (not the estimated 1.5 hrs) putting a new gamiviti gear in the passenger seat motor. Getting the plastic worn out gear off the metal piece then the new one on straight was a pain for my weak self. My husband and son are out of town so no help there, but now the seat works so I'm happy. Would prefer manual seats because I think they'll just break again.
