I have a rusted out mid-section muffler/resonator that I want to patch/seal until a new one can be shipped.

Does the oem Toyota have a drain hole that needs to be left open? I know some exhausts have something for water to drain out of and not rust from the inside, but wasn't sure if this is the case.

Any kits that you recommend to patch the rusty parts with?

Cancel this. Ended up ordering a Medallion Trail Hart Exhaust by revel since it was basically the same price for the full exhaust as an OEM middle muffler would have cost. Ordered it on Friday and it should be delivered on Tuesday which is pretty good considering Memorial Day.

I will post update once it is installed.

Basically in the same boat, looking forward to your update once it's installed.

Update: installed the Revel Medallion exhaust on my 100 series.

Worst part was removing the 25 year old rusted hardware from the exhaust flanges. Had to bust them off and of course the bolt extractor set I bought at harbor freight skipped the 15mm size that I needed so that added time to the removal.

Fitment and finish is great. Bolted on easily and everything lined up without issue. Bummer that kit does not come with the hardware to connect it to the down pipes. Had to source it from McMaster Carr/lowes.

Thanks to Scotty uzj100 for the sizes for the hardware!!

Initial 50 mile impression is that is sounds like a v8 now! Not the solution for you if you want quiet stock exhaust note. There is some drone from 1500-2000 rpm. I haven’t taken it on the highway yet so I’ll update on the drone at highway cruising.

Ordered it from shop.redline360.com for $719.74 shipped. Dealer quoted me $780 to just replace the muffler with a OEM unit so it was a no brainer to buy this. It was delivered in just a few days after I ordered it.

Great option if need to replace your exhaust and want something more rowdy.

Exhaust is sounding better after a break-in period of varied driving. Drone is worst at 1800/rpm. Sounds awesome at WOT!

Great Choice!! I've had mine one for a little over a year now and I still love it. I did do some sound deadening in the back which elimentated the drone. I really think its the best sounding exhaust for our 100s.

What area did you sound deaden? How much material did you install? Did this completely eliminate any drone? I'm interested in this exhaust, but have heard multiple people state that there is some drone. I'd like to keep drone to a minimum or eliminate it completely if possible.

Noisy mufflers WILL drone in an SUV, as the cargo area acts as an echo chamber. Save the noisy systems for pickup trucks (where the noise radiates to the truck bed floor). You might be able to minimize it, but doubtful it can be eliminated.

Well, I ended up doing the floor to the second row, the tailgate, removed the lower part of the interior panels in the rear to get as much of the rear fenders and inside that area under the windows as possible. Then i did all four doors. I did it in stages because I daily this vehicle and the rear stage did the trick to remove the drone. I upgraded the stock speakers and added a small sub to bring the sound system up to todays standards. I went with cheap Amazon sound deadening material spent more on speakers. People will have their opinions on what to use as far as materials. I did so alot of prep before application not worried about issues down the road. I may do the roof at some point. I think sound deadening our vehicles is a very worthy upgrade on its own merit and a must with any exhaust upgrade. There is some factory deadening material in the rear already just fyi but not enough. I have pics of most of it. Glad to answer and questions u might have.

I took less than I thought and I have a before and after clip of me tapping on the rear area you can hear a major difference. Cant post because of extentions... The pictures also helped me remember that the rear AC unit was quite hollow sounding and right above the exhaust so i cut alot strips to apply to the sections of the outter housing. Removed the tail lights to get to the upper rear pillar. At this point I have to open my rear cargo area windows to really hear the exhaust.

Edit: Added to statement
