Opinions on CT26 Turbo

Gentlemen. this is your final warning!! Any more mudslinging below this post and the thread WILL vanish along with the info contained in it and we do not want to loose good info because of disagreements!

With all due respect, we seem to have different views on what is mudslinging and what is robust discussion.

Telling someone the formula they put up is wrong and providing evidence is not mud-slinging.
Are we not allowed to disagree here?

Well seems to be a very intelligent discussion. Without question over my head, no doubt. But i have learned quite abit from this post. I'm just trying to choose the best turbo choice for my parameters as possible without blindly bolting up something just because people say it would work. Now all i have to do is reread these formulas about 60 times and try to equate some number sequence that will point to a certain turbo. I'm praying for the turbo genie to pop up with the answer. Thanks guys all your posts are appreciated.

Friendly disagreement is perfectly OK. I have edited many of the posts here (to remove the pointless drivel and name calling) already to try and save this thread. Let's stay on topic and discuss the issue and not comment on other members engineering skills or lack thereof. Disagree and provide proof from engineering sources fine, disagree and comment that other members are clueless is not fine. We can all have differences of opinion, without that the world is boring.

Lets disagree like gentlemen not like schoolyard bullies.

I see use and value from both sides and as long as it is civil the thread will remain.

D.,
Very gentlemanly of you to admit your error. I will accept this olive branch and not hold any animosity, it takes a big man to admit he is wrong!
Cheers

P.S. Seriously try the CT26, fantastic results(even if you think the 5psi at 1000rpm is strange, it rocks!):steer:

How does the CT-26 differ from the Supra and HJ-61? (12H-t)

because putting a turbo that is on a 4.0L engine on a 3.4L engine and expecting it to rev up faster makes little sense to me.

my CT-26 starts to make boost at about 1200-1500 rpm, all 10 psi of it at 1500-ish under hard acceleration.

Melett show the supra turbo has a bigger trim compressor wheel than even the 4.2L landcruiser 1HD-T turbo.

Their toyota cross-reference sheet is very interesting.
It appears the 4.2 landcruisers from 98 onwards (that's the 1HD-FTE) use a CT26 which has a smaller CT20 turbine.

thanks for that, great info.

Does anyone know where one might see a compressor map of the Ct-26?

Toyota are not really much friendly with the Turbo information .. I never seen a CT-20 o CT-26 compresor map ..

For those that may be interested, Dougal had been kind enough to volunteer to complete a mapping of the 3B for turbo purposes. There is a mapping formula/chart on Garretts website. Plus Dougals mapped the turbo he used on his rig. So hopefully the results will shed a little scientific light on the 3B for turboing. With this, i hope we will be able to then understand some of these numbers that are offered for each of the turbos out there. Thanks again to Dougal . NOW HURRY OUT AND MOVE!!!!!!

great! :) be sure to make a sticky out of it when you´re done

I am almost finished machining the 13bt to Garrett GT2052 flange/adapters for my turbo projest and two other Mud members that are doing the same setup. Studs for the turbo to adapter were ordered and arriving tomorrow. I'll post up pics when there completed, possibly tomorrow.

I have a 13BT with the supra turbo and it has the larger turbine installed. It seems to run well on the stand, but I have no vehicle experience with it. It's tempting to swap it onto my truck, but I already run a shimmed wastegate with the CT26 and have more boost that I care to go with. I hit about 12psi and it's more than enough. It may have less turbo lag, which would be interesting though.....as that's my only complaint with the stock turbo.
