Get bbetter rims.. And beadlocks..

If you can air down more you will reduce the shock load on the rims..

I am at 10 psi on the the trail and really cant go much lower than that.. Its more that I get wedged in between rocks and have to turn or grind the rim to get out. the whole week at GSMTR I was at 10 and was prob aroun 7 when I went to fill them back up 7 days later.

I have U.S. steel wheels. Is there a better steel rim out there that will take the abuse?. I would love to run beadlocks but its a DD.

So what if it is a DD???

I hear they leak and are illegal? true or not?

if its a good beadlock then it wont leak. thats kinda the point of a beadlock in the it will hold what air you have in.

as for legal or not. there are a few that are legal but what cops are really checking your wheels?

most beadlocks are not DOT approved and most laws state that government regulations forbid circumferential welding on wheel rims...

and if you can't see beadlocks on 37" tires your fawkin blind..

Are you guys sure a bent axle housing wont cause wheel wobble becuase it still seems aweful funky back there. Maybe its just badly bent rims but I dont know....

Bent housing won't. It just makes it really tough to get the shaft in.

And please show me the law that says you can't have a weld all the way around the rim.

Secondly, I can buy rim shells with a DOT stamp. Then make my own rims. Would they be legal then?

Lastly, I want to see one tickett that was given for a beadlock.

If you get pulled over, tell the cop they are streetlocks..

I have spent hours lookin for what the man would cite for and can't find anything in Cali that you could write on a ticket for beadlocks...

I do believe that beadlocks are not DOT approved, but that doesn't necessarily make them illegal. Apparently there is no vehicle code that exists (from what I here) that encompasses beadlocks, however if they aren't DOT approved and the cop wants to be an ass, then he'll get you for a driving an unsafe vehicle. I would me more concerned about getting pulled over for no mudflaps/fenderflares (happened!) than for having beadlocks.

Lowtide, I always run my 37" MTRs on rockcrawler wheels at 8 psi and at 4 in the snow and have had no problems. Makes a huge difference in traction from 10 psi, but I doubt that it will cushion yur wheels that much more. If your bending them at 10 you'd probably be bending them at 8,6or 4.

Anyways, that doesn't help your current problem. Have you had a chance to pull of the diff. cover and look inside?

Yeah I already replaced the axle shafts, and that did solve half my problem. But the rims are toast. I have a set of 80 series wheels I could use but dont feel like swaping rims just yet.

Sorry, I missed that post. I'm a jackass. Out of curiosity did the c-clips hold up to the bending?

80 series wheels probably won't have the correct BS..

IIRC

crap, thats what I thought too, IIRC they are 5.5 or somthing like that.

c-clips held up fine and dandy.

Dang.. that sucks...

I would drive the wobble then..

Not too many off road go fast shops around there huh..
There are places out here that straighten rims all the time.

BTW, www.summitracing.com has some VERY cheap deals on white waggon wheels..

Lowtide,

Find a dirt track wheel shop. Dirt track racers bend wheel bells all the time. A good dirt track wheel shop can rip off the old bell and weld on a new one almost while you wait.

Very cost affective too and you can spec whatever backspacing you want.

Cheers,
Cahil
