This is why I really really love my Green Mountain Grills pellet smoker, cook temp regulation is as simple as punching it in and making sure the hopper isn't empty.

It has a built in temp monitor / alarm and is wifi enabled so it will alert you via audible alarm on the grill and on the phone app, as long as you are on the same network. I rarely use my 'pane Weber or the kettle Weber anymore since I bought it.

@Izzyandsue @jfz80 @Steelman
Don't use the McDonalds on 321 in Hickory as a rendezvous point anymore...
...well, at least until the new one is built. As my buddy who sent the pic told me, "It was probably easier to build a new one than clean the old one".

It seems that's the way they all go - I think you are right, easier/cheaper to tear down and rebuild - they did that to a different McDonald's and Bojangle's in the Hickory area the last couple of years....

It is quite common in the fast food world. Heather deals with it in her business. After 15- 20 years many are mandated by their franchise deals. It is actually cheaper to tear the building down and build a new store than to try to remodel the old platform into a new store.

Ramon, what about your meat temp? Do you go by time? I like the probes because you don't have to open the smoker to see your food. @tgadd , I like that Meater! It's a shame that we aren't able to read any reviews on it (obviously since it's not yet in production)... But the extended wifi option with the block... Man, this means I might actually NOT be tied down to the house if I'm smoking a pork butt. As much as I love the whole smoking experience, if I get a late start on a Sunday, I hate waiting until 10PM to pull my pork apart. Starting late on Saturday night would be much better; maybe wake up at night to wrap the butt during the stall. Meh, details...

It reads the meat temp. You can adjust the alarm based on meat temp in 5* increments.

Before I drop another $12 to buy a poorly made camping chair from Dick's that won't likely last through the remainder of 2016, can anyone recommend an affordable alternative that's comfortable, well-made and a good value for the money?

X2 on the ARB chair. I picked one up from Steve last year at GSMTR. It was worth every penny. Of course, I'm a rather large fellow, so you don't need the rugged and wide chair that a man of my size requires... Still, it's comfortable as heck.

Currently I have Ozark Trail (cheap-assed WalMart) chairs.
They're ....ok.
other than a Crazy Creek back packing chair , they're the first non-beach chairs I've ever bought. After only a short time with them, I'm having the cost v value debate already.
The older I get (and the more I earn), the more I believe in the spend-the-money-buy-it-once philosophy.
I need to wrestle with my flinty Yankee (cheapskate) self on this issue.

Our Cabelas camp chairs are 8+ years old and going strong

I am with Jim, buy it once

David, john is spot on about "big" people chairs.... The one I used for 3 years and then became Andreas lasted another 10.

but if you want a great chair get the oz tent line..... Every test I've seen them in they out perform the competition by a country mile

grab them from family tent camping....... PS I've broken an ARB by sitting in it for 5 minutes so I know about chairs that last ;)

Say what??? Okay, there's a story here. What happened? This chair that I have is rugged as heck!

sat at it at the SEMA show, while I was watching a demo. And I must say full disclosure that many people most likely had sat in that chair before me.... but it just went to the ground after 5 minutes or so.

I know others on here watch the walking dead.

Who is going to get the axe tonight.... my 3 guesses are Maggie, Glen, Carol.
