The best way to describe the feeling and sound of that cannon is

imagine if I shake the chit out of you while somebody hits you with a sledgehammer inside one of those vans with lots of speakers that compete for the highest decibels and it vibrates the chit out of you.
And that is them shooting over us toward the enemy. I would hate to imagine what it feels like when it actually shoots at you.

They build the cannon at General Dynaics in south Burlington VT (formerly GE formerly Martin-Marietta). There is a National Guard range in Jehrico or there about. It sits generally adjacent to the Bolton Country Club. I was in the middle of a back swing when I learned they test fire the A10’s cannon at that range.

I lived incredibly close to their skunk works facility in Burbank CA before it was moved on base in palmdale. As a kid I was obsessed with the SR-71 and I used to have my mom drive to the building so I could just stare at the building as if the blackbird was going to suddenly appear outback. (I did get to see it take of an land a few times in the desert)

They moved in 89 and it was well into the early 2000's before everything was completely demolished.... I still as a 20 something year old used to love driving by the building and seeing the skunk works plaque.

The SR-71 Blackbird is my favorite by far.
I built a model rocket of it (I still have it), but not as good as a rocket with so much wing.
It would catch the wind and go horizontal with the wind about 6 ft. high for hundred yards or so.
Fun, but dangerous !!

Did anybody else wake up at 5:15am?

Holy smokes! Everyone ok?

It was crazy over here. No damage on my property however one house about 4 houses away had a huge tree on it.

Oh that sucks John! Sorry man.

We’re just dandy. No penetration below the roof and only one two broken sunroom windows, so far. I was quick with containers for the water coming into the attic (stage them, please!) so I think I saved a lot of ceilings, walls, and floors. I learned from my 2016 similar experience. The crap thing is that the SAME part of the roof got hit as it did back then but this time was from the other end of the yard! The white 450 lost the DS rain gutter trim but the rest is minimal scratches.

I was already awake and moving around when it happened, so my head was pretty clear to react. Score one for insomnia!

Had that same model, lost it on my second launch. It traveled horizontally way too much on the descent and was gone.

I feel for you John, it went through here at 3:45 AM. Not as bad as yours. Back corner of the shop.
My neighbor's tree, second one to come down on the shop. Last time he waited until I had it all cut up and all but one load of brush carried off to the burn pile before he offered to help. This time it's all going back over his fence and he can not deal with it there.
