We own a 1978 FJ40 and a 1987 FJ60. We need to sell one, and are leaning towards the 60 series. I have been trying to follow others that have sold and for how much, and it seems like values are all over the place. If you are bored, can you chime in? Thanks in advance.

1987 Freeborn Red De-smogged and running a webber carb.

The good:
Under 160k miles and runs great.
Updated interior with new carpet, seat foam rebuilt with new Cruiser Corps seat covers.
New 31x10.50 Cooper Mud Tires.
Very Little rust on the body overall (included a pic of the rust that I found inside when doing the carpets).
The roof and gutters are in GREAT shape.

The bad:
It was in a small fender bender I believe. So the hood and rear hatch may have been painted (for sure the rear hatch and tailgate). But maybe that was from fading? The rear hatch also shows a little rust in a couple spots. The passenger rear fender has rust.
It leaks... We haven't dug into rebuilding the axles or resealing the engine or transfer case; So this vehicle leaks with the best of other 32 year old vehicles.
I have never hooked an AC compressor up with a belt. Not sure if it works or not.
Crack in the windshield on passenger edge.

We don't want to rip anybody off, but would like to ask a reasonable price.

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Put it on eBay being honest about the desmog (it will definitely limit sales) and see what happens. Living in Kalif, I personally would never buy a desmog'd rig (that is not smog-exempt) because of the extreme difficulty getting it legal again.

Some engine pix would help.

My guess is $5-8K on fleabay? You never really know with 60s unless they're perfect and lo-mi.

GLWS.

That color has proven to be popular and the miles are a little lower but the rust is an issue. $5k to $8k seems like a reasonable number but you can always list an ad for whatever price you want and some sucker might pay it :)

The mileage is pretty low and its mostly original. Nice patina and most 60's have some rust. The desmog doesn't scare me if it runs well and it looks like you've maintained it, but some under hood and undercarriage pics would help. That would be a great 60 to wheel and road trip in. They don't need to be pristine to put a smile on your face and enjoy!

I search the ads all the time for cruisers and I would probably list it for 10K obo and see what you get. GLWTS!

Thanks for the responses. I will try and get some more pictures soon and add them to clarify the condition.
Thanks!

I'd say 5-8k is reasonable but its all so fluid. I paid 5,500 for mine with the same issues (and then some). Your interior is much more cleaner than mine as well. With that being said, I'd prolly throw it up on something for 10k and see what happens. Looks like a great one to buy and get started on revamps

Here is a couple more pictures to show lack of rust in areas. I will add another post with some rust on the passenger rear wheel well
