So I went to the only 4x4 shop in cheyenne to ask about ARB products for the pig. Ask the owner if they carry ARB and he says yes whats it for... I tell him its for my 55.... then he stops doing anything and tells me they dont do imports. What kind of crock of Shiat is that? Then agian I pretty much expected that.

I had OME shocks on my Pig before I got the SOA. Think I just called OME and asked for 55 shocks..

Ya.. I know they have them for stock pig.. thats about all they carry... oh and the front steering dampner.... but I have the Alcans that Ben had on his pig.. so the pig will be lifted 4 inches... figured with the Alcans I didnt want to use my usual RS9000's... wanted to find something in the OME comfort shock.

wish they carried springs for pigs... Im sure Brian remembers a few years back when we were trying to get ARB to carry OME springs for the pig.... went in as a group.. then a dude that said he used to help engineer OME stepped into the picture and said he worked for another company that made their springs pretty much the same way.... and we were going to do a group buy on that one.... cant remember all the facts... guess I could look it up on the pig list and see.

OH...that's different.

ROFL.... I knew you were going to say something like that. ;p

Was this Dee's 4WD down on Lincolnway? Whoever it was, tell that "we don't do imports" is a load of s***- they worked on my parent's FJ40 28 years ago.

Edit: You're thinking of GT suspensions.

Aren't Belton springs made by the same folks and similar quality/lower price than OME's?

After reading what I just read it seems like a fantasy...Can anyone clue me in? I have recently heard a couple folks talk about Belton springs and how great they are as well as being 55 specific. I realize you are looking for a bit of lift and I believe they do a 2" or a 4" lift. Can't really remember.

Cant remember their name.... its a block east of the old RR depot. Wont be going back.... dude was an azzhat about it..... he had zero interest in helping me as soon as he heard it was a jap truck.... really phawken pisses me off to. phucken hillybilly mofo! I was pretty close to shoving that fullsized ford 4x4 up his AZZ! I have an extreme disliking for people that sport an attitude like that.
Thats why I carry a fish wacker!:flipoff2: :flipoff2: :flipoff2: :flipoff2: :flipoff2:

(fyi for those that dont know what a fish wacker is....think deep sea fishing)

I have Ben's old Alcans he used on his FJ55. They are a 4 inch lift. I would like to use some OME shocks. ARB only carries factory replacement shocks. So I would have to use another vehicles shocks for the Alcan application. I should ask Ben what he recommends for shock specs. I think I remember him saying the shocks he was using at the time didnt work very well with the Alcans.

I have OME's on my 3" lifted pig. The rear ones fit very well, but the front one's are a pain to get them to work. The drivers front will interfere with the steering arm since the OME is so much larger than the OEM, so I had to modify my shock tower to make it fit. I don't remember the exact numbers of the shocks that I used, but I called Steve at MAF and he was actually pretty helpful getting the right ones on there (aside from sending me the wrong ones:doh: )

Love the way they ride, good luck with your project.

Ben was running Doetsch-Techs - 8000's in rear, 3000's in front

I actually have the front shocks... well the ones that survived the roll.... They arent going to see any use.. I just have it for reference when going to OME's. I think we might have the rears too.... if so then they are still on the pig carcass. They wont see any use either... just reference.

TJ.... if Ben doesnt make the meeting this coming Tues @ 7pm then I will hand the money owed him to you. Just need to know if you could pass it to him.
Im flat broke and need to save my fuel for the meeting... otherwise I'd fill up with 100% Ethanol (1.40 a gallon) and drive down.

The rears worked great....

here's some other thoughts...I was just pontificating...

The OME's are gas charged, I had those on my "other" pig, or OsageCruisers's pig now. I don't know if it was the springs (Safari lift) or the shocks, but they all work together in a symbiotic relationship...much like the medicholrians in us jedi....ok...anyways

That system rode a chunk rougher than my setup. I can't help but think that the OME shocks caused it to be a little rougher as they are gas charged and using higher pressure. It seemed to be stiffed and rebound quicker which you may or may not like...i didn't like it.

The DT8000's on the rear were NOT pressurized and i think they rode better. The front of mine were older and wore but still seemed to ride ok, The relay arm WILL hit and "massage" that shock on a 4" lift. You'll need to make a piece of flat stock to push the top of the shock out, or get a new custom mount made if you run bigger around shocks. I just ran the same shock, it was "pre-massaged" wasn't leaking and rode well...Good enough for me!

Which series OME did you have? Where they the comfort series? Maybe I should go back to using the Rancho's.

the massages shock... is that the one that looks like it was hit with a board and is flat on one side?

What did you do to fix your shock tower i am thinking a bit of angel iron on top to move it out some. my new bilstein shocks are a bit longer and bottem out and now leak. I whated to long to put on bump stops.oh well.

they are damaged now... you're going to have to replace them.

After I get bump stops I am thinking some 2x2 on axles I need 4'' or so what do you think.

If I still had "The Beast" (as it was named and known by) then I would go SOA. Keep the Reverse Shackle but lessen the leafs.... sorta like how the Rocklobster was done... also you're going to need to extend that front main leaf... I am pretty sure a stock 55 rear top two main leafs would work just fine. That way you get a lift that works well but not jack'd up to the sky.
