OME lift question

Robbie: If you take that rock at it's tallest and steepest part you don't have a chance on getting up with 33's and a standard lift in a Cruiser. Even the J-sprung drivers have to move over several feet to the right (where even my 100 can go up). Joe came close in his cut frame 80 though he was still about a trucks width from where I could do it. Here's some pics: BTW, the nice 80 that had to move far over is on Slee's website...my buddy Randy in his killer LX450SC with 35's and 4" lift. Look at where he had to go in order to make it. (Though this is due to bull bars and rear bumpers)

Do not know what to tell you except that I did not do it to the extreme right as you suggest, but more in the middle. Yes you are right to say I did not do it to the extreme left either. I do know over time stuff changes ue to useage,. ruts get bigger, etc. I do also know I did drag my rear and scrap my front bumper to do it(both stock). I also came into it at a angle insteade of straight on and then straighten up. just my experence. This was over 4 years ago. Maybe the rock has gotten harder. later robbie

The issue with the contact between the swaybar and driveshaft has to do with L shocks and not lift. The L shocks makes the axle droop out to far and the swaybar will make contact with the driveshaft.

The issue of having your swaybars at to much of an angle and undue stress on the mounting links has to do with lift.

Hi Christo,

I actually have J springs with L shocks and your drop blocks and I took them off yesterday since they caused my swaybar ends to rub on the tie rod. Any suggestions on this? I noticed this after I replaced my sway bar bushings. I can't imagine I put the swaybar back on wrong. Probably should call you, but seeing as your already involved in this thread... :D

Interesting reading. Unfortunately for me, the amount of lift is limited by my 7' garage door opening!!!

Have a good weekend all.

I used to have that problem with my 4Runner with about 5" of lift and a roof rack on Thule load bars, so I just started parking outside after I got over the 7'-10" mark on my 8'-0" garage door. It was just getting too close and it gave me more room for all my other junk in the garage! :hillbill:

Robbie: Center? Gotcha. I can see that with 33's and OME. The other 80's started up at an angle too like my 100 has to. Far left is tough. In the pix above I actually am about 3 feet from the worst part because I still had my stock rear bumper. Now with the rear cut I can make that far left (4th pix up from here on this thread). Actually it was funny, that 4th pic up was taken when I ran it with the Rover Club. They were mind boggled I'd try it. Then, when they seen a Cruiser go up it and with no slip their mouths were open. ;p Some were:

Alia176: I'm with ya dude. I want a roof rack on my 100 so bad...but I'll be danged if it's staying outside!

Sounds like we have someAZ Gap runners on the forum. We're going soon, we all should meet up.
