Yeah, but it seems like if the Pump is taller than it is supposed to be (?later pump), that would explain why the HB wouldn't be pressed in completely: so it would line up with the WP pulley, right?
 
There is NEVER a good excuse for not pressing on an HB all the way. Russian roulette. Worse actually.

Speaking of not pressing the HB on all the way...

I'm installing a harmonic balancer on my 77' 2F, I'm not sure if I'm bottomed out of the crankshaft or if i'm just going up against friction/resistance. Can anyone pull a tape (or calipers!) from the back of the harmonic balancer to the timing cover and give me the measurement?
