You should try riding them once in a while, rather than just polishing them! lol

I guess 20 years makes my 2000 Gary Fisher Kaitai old enough for this thread? Been a great bike still haven't replaced it with anything newer. The original Rock Shox Judy XC fork which has never been serviced finally sprung a leak after all these years, so I need to do something with it.

lol you win. My landcruiser gets fewer miles than that in a year. You'd smoke me in elevation gain too -- Nova Scrota doesn't have much of that.

And by the way @bugsnbikes , go ride Skeggs and post up lots of pics -- banana slugs and all -- for those of us who can't

Just got this today

Trance 2 29er

Already thinking of switching to a cf straight handle bar. 🤔

that's a schwinn moab 3 with the famous shimano altus/acera/stx/deore/xtr gruppo with mixed avid brake levers.

aka a bunch of stuff i found in my bike parts boxes plus a $15 saddle from amazon that said "sport king" in the ad plus some highly dubious quality new "schwinn" bear claws.

it functions and rides pretty nice considering.

i also have a moab 1 frame i will build up 100% stx rc gruppo when i find an stx rc rear derailleur. because it will be the only one.

My 1987 Trek 8000. It was a CL find about 2 years ago. Pretty much new old stock. I’ve built it up for gravel touring and camping. Great bike that has some cool Shimano tech including a Shark Bite rear brake and Biopace oval-shaped chainrings that smooth out the pedal stroke. I’m a fan actually. Over a 100 mile day, a 4% efficiency gain is 4 more miles of touring.

Called Salsa in the late 90’s looking for a full suspension steel bike, Ross answered the phone and said they had one El Kaboing in Gumby Green. Had this ever since:

Years later I wanted a cycle cross bike so I called Soulcraft in Petaluma. Sean asked me to bring a bike in for the fitting. I brought my salsa, he laughed & said he actually remembered making the bike! From that he made me this bike, out of the shop in Ross’ backyard:
