Not a 45, but cool history none-the-less.

My next door neighbors uncle purchased this 40 off the lot in New Mexico in 1966 and kept it until he passed away last year. These pics were the day it was purchased. My neighbor inherited it and is currently having it brought back to life at Irbis Offroad here in Denver. It will soon be on the trails again with a Toyota 3.4 liter and FJ60 axles. Should be interesting. :)

NICE :)

I think I would have considered to leave it stock...

Me too. However, after 42 years of hard use and lots of "farm" repairs, it was far from the condition it was when new. Although very stock and solid, it would have been a huge endeavor to restore it to it's original condition. Also, the new owner was interested in making it more driveable, which I think the new drivetrain will accomplish. :)

Is what we have here definite proof that some rigs came with black wheels?????

Most experts say only gray, but I have heard suggestions as to some with black and some with white?

I wonder if that truck now belongs to landcrusher909. You know, of Cali to Iowa fame.

Photo taken in Japan circa 1986.
Truck is now rusted into a pile of junk.

Here is one more from the same place in Japan:
