Oil Viscosity Recommendation for 2UZ-FE in Australia, GCC, and EU (1 Viewer)

Hey guys,

I found some sources on this but hoping someone with an owners manual in Australia, the GCC, or EU for the 2UZ can 100% confirm.

If possible, can you post a picture of the recommended oil viscosities in your owners manual?

Hoping it looks something like the attached picture. Thanks a lot.

The viscosities in your attached photo are in line with what is recommended for GCC. Most cruisers here run viscosities on the higher end of that graph.
I still find these graphs kinda hilarious at times.
The W in the number is WINTER weight. And the other is its viscosity at temp (210F).
A 5W30 and a 10W-30 are going to essentially perform the same in most driving cases. Botha re going to be 30 weight at temp.
So honestly that arrow for the 5W should cover all of that graph.

TLDR or don't care: 5W-30 if it drops below freezing. 10W-30 if not. Maybe the 15W-40 if you tow s*** in hot weather all the time.
 
Modern day 5w30 is fine and will cover you for a wide range of temperatures. If you don't drive below freezing you could put 10w30 in but otherwise don't overthink it , 5w30 is fine.

It's, uh, actually not that simple. Oils rated with equivalent "hot" viscosity ratings can have widely varying actual (i.e. measured) winter cold-start viscosities. That's part of why oil threads are so much fun :rofl:

I'll give you one example: Mobil1 0w40 is actually thicker than 5w30 at every cold-start WINTER temperature that these vehicles are likely to see (until you approach the pour point, around -40 to -45 degrees F).

Edited to add: I like Mobil1, 0w40 for summer (typical extreme highest temps ~100F) and 5w30 for winter (typical extreme lowest temps ~single digits F).

I made a new LC 100 series friend in Melbourne, Australia. He was kind enough to send me a picture of his owners manual.

In short, I think we get screwed by the CAFE regs here in the US.

I stepped up to 10W-40 Mobil 1 from 5W-30 (both full synthetic). In my case, the 40 weight definitely made the engine quieter (also took videos for each oil idling at operating temp with identical conditions and the difference was clear).

I’m planning to step up to Mobil 1 15w-50 full synthetic. In my area of FL the worst cold snap will get down to around 32 F and we crack 100 F pretty easily in the summer.

My new friend in Melbourne AUS runs 20w-50 with no issues and said the lowest he sees in winter there is around 1C or 2C (34-35 F)
