I posted this a while ago but can't find the link to follow up...
This has been the condition for almost about a year now with no apparent reason or any mechanical issues. The oil gauge used to stay around the mid point once the car warms up and as you accelerate it goes up and then comes back down when cruising. Over a year ago, it started to stay low as shown in the photo once the car is warmed up and moving, the photo below was taken around 70MPH, it would stay in middle after starting car in the morning, but drop once the car has been driven about an hour or so.
Have the gauge and sender looked at but nothing's wrong, engine functions as normal. Any reason why?
The temperature gauge also stays in that position once car is started and never moves up even on hot weather, any clues?

Thanks.

Oil looks a little low, but could be brand, weight of oil, or just weak oil sending unit. Have a shop through on a pressure gauge if concerned.

Temp just a hair low is likely low coolant level or weak thermostat. When you use your cabin heat on HI temp, it should blow very very hot.
  1. Check level in the morning after an 8 hour cool dn. Fill to top of radiator with distilled water if you don't have any Toyota coolant around. The year of your rig determines if Toyota red or pink. Fill reservoir just above low line.
  2. If coolant level good and heat not blowing very hot swap out the thermostat. Take 5 mins and ~$30 for thermostat and new gasket/rubber seal. If never done before it will be weak and should be replaced.

The Toyota gauges are notoriously vague, many reports of an ODB type tool showing 220* on coolant and the gauge just moving towards the top third.

You can get a cheap OBD reader and a free phone app, use that to verify actual data.

Oil service has been done at Toyota dealer so they should be good. Only noticed this drop in the past year.
Just had complete coolant flush service done at dealer yesterday. Not sure how much they will charge if next time I request to change the thermostat.

Check what weight they used. Seeing some use the 0W-20 which is a bit light for us (5w-30 is spec).
Don't assume they top coolant properly. I find it takes one, two or even three cool down cycles to properly burp air out. Very like your 2" low in radiator, it's common.

As TM said it may just be gauges.
