to keep from being lost in my build thread, here's a new question. i'm thinking a previous owner might have put the diff in the oil pan and this was a talented artisan, pighead thinks maybe factory. what say ye?

I replied in the other thread, but I am pretty sure that is factory nocthing, I will check to make sure when I get home.
My 1964 has that.
I thought it was just a damage and repair ( like someone hit the suspension hard in the front lol ) , but maybe not? Mine is notched / welded in the front.

i had thought the same thing too. i figured if the factory had done it, it would have been stamped in.
