Oil leak

I was recently changing my oil on my 88 FJ62 and noticed as I was refilling the oil that it began to leak out of the front one of these two holes. They are near the oil filter and I was able to eventually fill the oil up without it leaking. I noticed it only leaked when I would try to fill the oil up too fast and was wondering if there is supposed to be a plug there. I just recently bought this rig few months back and the seller never mention having a problem with the oil leaking.

That is the block off plate to the mechanical fuel pump port that came on different models, not in the US. There should be two bolts in those holes, asap! The bolt holes go through the block to the internal part of the engine, that's why oil was leaking out of them.

Related question, has the transmission been changed on that truck?

Awesome thanks for your help. And to answer your question the transmission was replaced before I bought it. The previous owner gave be the receipts for further proof.

IIRC the trans cooler line bracket attach to 1 of those bolts that should be there

Ok, is it still an automatic transmission?

I ask bc the two bolts that go there also held a bracket that holds the cooling lines for the auto trans on the FJ62. Your lines appear to be missing in that pic. Or maybe they were re-routed?
If it was changed to a manual transmission those cooling lines are no longer necessary.

Either way, you definitely need to plug those holes.
