Hi all, I have a FJ60, 2F engine with a oil leak, I thought it was the Pan gasket so I replaced that, after digging in a lot deeper I thought it was coming from the timing plate gasket so I tweaked those screws which might have just started another leak, but above the timing plate in the block there's about a 2 1/2, 3-in hole that's plugged with some rubber and I think the leak is coming from there. Without taking out the radiator and fan and everything I can reach my hand up there and I put some gasket sealer but it hasn't fixed the problem. Anybody have advice or know what I'm talking about?

Are you talking about the timing gear plate?

Hi yes, I've attached a few pics. Ive tried to seal it up the best I could, so I know it looks super messy. I will probably just tear out the fan so I can get in their better. Looking at the first pic, it looks like a plugged hole near the top of the plate. First pic is looking up, second is through the fan. Pardon my newbieness.

It looks more like a coolant leak to me. But maybe everything is leaking in the front. Mine was caked in crud from both the oil and coolant leaks in the front of the engine when I first got my truck. You’re probably going to have to take the front end apart and replace everything with new gaskets otherwise you’ll be pulling hen’s teeth chasing this leak.

Isn't that large one on the block a freeze plug? The one with all the gasket maker on it bottom pic.

Tight plug #2, from 6/84 to 87 it was this part (11431B in the schematic). It's threaded so seems like you could take it out and put some loc-tite and reinstall.

early or pre 6-84 shows part #

9033024013. not sure if this one is threaded or not. But partsouq shows as NLA.

Hi gman, fantastic! That's it. I can actually see the oil leaking from there when it's running, so I'll find the part and get rocking. thanks for the help!

you can most likely just remove the plug, put some loctite on it and re install. Just clean up the threads on the plug and in the hole while it's out. I'm guessing the sealant on the threads is worn off.

Will do, again thanks for all the input
