Just cut open one of the 20002's and it is not the same depth filtering media as the 20004, it has a paper element with a very odd arrangement, looks like a lot of surface area but also looks like it could cause problems
Instead of having the paper arranged radially like a normal paper filter, it is stacked in concentric arcs, in the first pic the element is slightly crushed, I think because the different layers may be getting squeezed reducing available area and leading to more differential pressure causing more squeezing ect. If this carried on to far the bypass valve in the filter would have opened (dirty oil is better than no oil)
I have 2 more of these, going to leave them on the shelf for a wile, may never use them,
