oil filter question

Just cut open one of the 20002's and it is not the same depth filtering media as the 20004, it has a paper element with a very odd arrangement, looks like a lot of surface area but also looks like it could cause problems

Instead of having the paper arranged radially like a normal paper filter, it is stacked in concentric arcs, in the first pic the element is slightly crushed, I think because the different layers may be getting squeezed reducing available area and leading to more differential pressure causing more squeezing ect. If this carried on to far the bypass valve in the filter would have opened (dirty oil is better than no oil)


I have 2 more of these, going to leave them on the shelf for a wile, may never use them,

That is a FINE filter and I would be proud to use it. Believe it or not, the surface area of that filter is greater than that of a 15600-41010........

In any event, the statement was a bit rethorical. I was saying that they are just dandy and do NOT hesitate to use them. If you still are not wanting to use them I will gladly take them...
