Oil additives?

Probably something with high zinc, not good for catalytic converters.

I was using zddp additive for a while until i read that zinc additives can interfere with your oils chemistry and result in worse oil film strength.
just buying a top tier oil in your viscosity is the best bet, a high zinc one if you feel it necessary.
oil manufactureers have replaced zinc with other wear packs that do the same job with different chemistry and arent compatible with zinc.
a couple top performers are
quaker state full synth euro diesel
ams signature series
and theres a couple specifically for flat tappet engines with higher zinc too but scored a bit lower on the film strength rating

Anyone using any kind of oil additives for our old school engines? To replace the missing lubricant that has been removed due to “polluting “ the environment? That is not in the current oil’s?
I used to use Amsoil for everything but I found out about Hotshot Secret they have a whole line of additives and oils

I do have an Amsoil Bypass filter I think its more superior to the Frantz toilet paper roll filter.

Engine oil - BLACK DIAMOND OUTLAW OIL 15w40
Fuel Additive - EDT+ WINTER DEFENSE
Engine oil Additive - THE ORIGINAL STICTION ELIMINATOR is great for turbos (not needed as its part of black diamond oil)
Fuel System Cleaner - DIESEL EXTREME (I used this once a year)
Automatic Transmission Fluid - BLUE DIAMOND ATF+4/DEXRON III/MERCON V (+4/D3/M5) ( Seems to have the same Viscosity as Dexron III, I haven't been able to find a true full synthetic Dexron III with any other brand. Sure there is DEXRON VI it's backward compatible and has thinner viscosity.... but id like to keep it the same DEXRON III.)
Gear Oil - Amsoil SEVERE GEAR 75W-90

I used to use STP ZDDP additive in my older Toyota and Mercedes diesels, and also in my 295k mile 3FE. I never really noticed much of a difference in the diesels, but the 3FE ran noticeably smoother and quieter once I put the additive in.

Claims to do the impossible by filling gaps in the metal.
If it’s working for you then it’s A+++ 15years is proof.
The best result which is made (not me) is over 10000 km (6200 miles) without engine oil.

I don't use any oil additives for my aged 1hz engine. But I do use genuine Delo 400 multigrade oil and always change it and the filter (with another genuine Japanese one) at the same time, usually ever 12 to 18 months depending on how much driving I'm doing in the 80.

Only additive I use is Flashlube diesel conditioner in the fuel.

I covered additives in a thread last yr FYI. Worn engine treatment and other additives for old engines - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/worn-engine-treatment-and-other-additives-for-old-engines.1293365/

do you have a link to an article or video?

I donno some claim it to be snake oil

I do believe in Hotshots sticktion eliminator, last year... I've run hotshots for about 2 years prior and after inspecting my failed turbo the parts look clean no heat marks kind of like this picture from hotshots.. but then again it could be the quality of oil and the regular oil changes I do too.

this rvs technology seems simillar to Zmax.

"absorbs into metal"
