Wow, I'm excited about this. The quality of the components looks awesome. We need more Tech!

I have a how to already. Some good tips. Not the best write up on mud but it will get you through the basics

I found it, stupid search not working on iPhone can be blamed. So we have 2 "official" tech threads for the same thing? WTF?

yeah, I didn't want to shutdown LJ's thread. I also didn't want to start my how to /build on the second page. I figured I would do a write up then post the final product on the official retro thread.

Dont worry! We can just do linkbacks to both threads when it becomes a sticky:D

part 1 to part 3 are in the original post!

Part 4: Shroud mounting

I decided to go with the mini gatling gun shroud and the full size gatling gun shroud.

Mounting the mini gatling gun shroudis easy! Just line up the mounting holes to the projectors mounting holes! Now insert and tighten the screws

Mounting the full size gatling gun is a little tougher. First place the shroud centric ring on the shroud itself. It is self explanatory how to mount! Now mount the ring and shroud combo onto the projector as tight as possible. Now pull the shroud off and the ring should still be in place. Now superglue the ring in place. Make sure to be careful and get none on the lens of the projector. Now let dry and place the shroud back on the ring. I quickly realized that I need to trim the mounting tabs. Measure twice and measure again. Now trim the shroud and check to see if it sits the way you want it to.

the shroud should not look like this! Lol so dremel time!

more flush but I wanted to trim it more so I trimmed it...

Here we go!

Part 5: Mounting the CCFL rings(Bimmer Status)

Easy, just take the CCFL ring(wear gloves) and place it on top of the shroud. Now using the superglue dab it all the way around to get a nice even glue pattern(making it nearly invisible and less obvious that it is glue lol)

Now run the wire through the bottom of the projector shroud and cover it with some aluminum tape so it doesn't show in the reflection.(according to HID planet.com). Run the wire through the hole where the reflector screwed in before and tape the wires in the back so you do not lose them. Repeat for larger shrouds as well

Coming soon: wiring and measuring the cutoff

Note to self: never throw away those 9006 extension wires from the HID bulbs! lol they saved me today! Here are the pics from today! I took lots of pics (too many) but I will add the writeup portion tomorrow!

Introducing the first quad-xenon 100 series! Tomorrow just gotta seal up the lens and appreciate the work:D I have about 10 hours of work in the entire retrofit because I was being OCD about wiring etc

LJ - How much do you have invested in those one piece lights plus your projectors etc now? I'm guessing $750-$1000 range?

Lights were a hand me down from my dad, I want to say that he bought them $250 4 or 5 years ago

I myself have invested $450(thanks to the forum group buy) for the projector setup with morimoto HID:D

You could achieve the quadxenon with about $250 or less with TRS projectors and buying an HID kit elsewhere but comparing DDM and TRS HID's, TRS wins by a longshot

Daytime comparison below

DDM is the first pic, TRS is the second pic

So, in reality, you're looking at a minimum of $700 and most likely $1000 when it's all said and done plus lots of personal time invested.

Personally, I think it looks great, but the OEM 07 headlights with a simple DDM 55W kit were fantastic to the point that if I had $1000 to blow, I would spend $65 on the DDM kit and $935 for an ARB rear locker or something else more "deserving". Hell, if you don't already have the updated reflectors, buy the 06/07 lights and the DDM kit for $350 or so at most and put the remaining $650 into an ARB bumper, winch with synthetic line, etc....

Otherwise, you did a great job with the install and they do look nice.
