Hey guys - we moved here in August. I have a 2003 LX470 that just passed 300,000 miles. There are sooo many 100s here in the North County. I came from GA where there were almost none.

Where do folks go to get their work done? I am in need of some maintenance items.
Alternative Automotive in Escondido

Alternative will handle all of the above. I have not had any work done by Noah's Ark/ @1973Guppie but have heard good things about his personal touch to the work.

Thx! Must of been another reason than the age of the truck!? I am fine with carbs but usually don't get into rebuilding them personally. I also don't mess with smog stuff.

you might also call Daryll at SD TRUX, not sure if they are working on 100's still, they send me the older rigs usually to work on when they get requests, a good fit if you are looking for just general maintenance. I usually stick to customers wanting a list of mods / build projects.

Daryll is great. I'm a big fan of SD Trux, and they still regularly do work on my brother's 100.

You do your work on the side? Or you have your own shop?

never thought about that. any idea what the law allows?
well the law is the law, you have to have your car smogged in CA, I don't condone not smogging or doing anything illegal but it is a known tactic to register your car in another state, etc. Again, I am not saying you should or should not do that but I have seen it done quite a bit. I have no idea of the legal ramifications of this though.

I will delete my portion of this discussion later today ☮️

Hey boys and girls. Just moved to San Diego last week - March 7th. Came most recently from a year stint in Cabo San Lucas, and before that was in Denver CO, Portland OR, and grew up in Iowa. Been a 100 Series owner since 2006, now on my second one this time with AHC which I f'ing love and specifically sought out - (#don't-delete) :). My wife and I have stomped my highly customized baby over all the Western States, with a special taste for the arid canyons of the Colorado Plateau in UT/CO/AZ. Tread Magazine shot my truck in 2023 for a feature that never got into the E-zine, but I got some sweet photos for free out of the deal. We're looking to connect in San Diego with other couples who have the LC/overlanding bug - we're in our late 40's and like to day drink, shoot cans, follow UAP news, make fun of inferior 4x4s, and highlight our Benchmark road maps on edibles. We live in Little Italy, downtown. Stay classy Mudders.

Here's the online version of Tread's shots, showing the: Full Spread of my 100 Series

Also, now here, I'm looking for a Toyota dealership that is friendly to LCs and has experienced LC techs, and also a boutique mechanic who loves 100 series. Let me know or point me to the appropriate thread.

Welcome to San Diego!! There are a few different dealers and LC specifically good mechanics. Your in the South so SD Trux is recommended. I'm in the North county and a member of Beach. N Toys. We get out usually once a month. We do have meetings which can be fun for sure and meet the core members. Just a different club page here. Hope that helps and have a great week!!

At one point I reached out to several San Diego shops, including Truck Shop, for possible help with the PHH on my FZJ80. Only two shops called back, Noah and Truck Shop, and Truck Shop said they no longer work on 80s. Noah was the only one that seemed ready to dive in and help with the PHH, and the message he left showed eager expertise.

It was over the holidays and I got impatient before the return call came, so I removed the upper intake manifold and brake booster and did it all myself, but I made a note that Noah is my guy the next time I need any help.

<< Edit: It appears Truck Shop still works on 80s. We must have miscommunicated. >>
