Mike,

Not done talking yet since random thoughts keep coming up ..... Did you change to a 4 speed AND change the TC or did you keep the 3 speed transfer case? I'm assuming you also did not change the flange on the rear diff.

Those issues may lead to you having a mixed bolt pattern between the from and rear. Post up what you have.

You're correct - I converted to a 4spd and kept the original 3 spd t-case. Axles are original. I think it's probably easiest to just bring the d/s I have to a shop and have the rear shortened and front lengthened since all the flanges are currently correct. Wish I had thought of this earlier but I work on it every other month or so and it's tough to keep track of all the details.

Anyone have 4" springs for a '40? I have 2.5" springs on mine now and would be willing to trade or partial swap, etc.

Also - any 2F's for sale locally?

anybody need a 14' trailer??

Its an old popup trailer frame I bought last year to deck it and haul stuff back home to LA with me when we were planning on moving back. I bought it for $300 and since then have replace the brakes (Master Cylinder, all hard and soft lines, and brake shoes/pads, wheel cylinders) I have also replaced the hubs to a stronger selection than the ones that were on there and put all new wheel bearings on it. I also put new brake and turn signals on it as the ones it came with were smashed and rewired it all to get them working again.

I have the title, although I have never put it in my name but would get that done and then transfer to whoever buys it.

rear of the frame does have some rust with a few holes that I was going to address. My plans for it after not moving was to beef up the frame and make an adventure style trailer on top of it.

I have since bought a popup camper trailer that Andrea found and decided she wanted (price was too good not to jump on) so this has to go as I don't have enough room in the garage for both.

This could be let go for very cheap as i'd rather someone have it that can use it than it go to the scrap yard.

It looks uneven in the picture just because it was sitting on jack stands unevenly.

Just to close this one out.... trailer is now sold. Pretty much had it sold a few months back but had to wait on the new title and to get mine and paul's schedules to sync up.

Met Paul (pawwright) for the first time today... it was great to meet you and thanks for the PA beer you brought to share.

now on to modifying the popup camper for light trail use

Check with @NCNole

I believe she has a set of 4" springs and wants a set of 2.5s and is in Raleigh to boot. Sounds like a wrenching day to me coming up

I have an F.5 engine located in Raleigh out of a 74 fj40, not sure if that helps you out at all.

Thanks - I'm looking for a 2F only - I don't mind rebuilding one if the price is right.

Besides driving my 80 around been off the land cruiser wagon for awhile with everything at work and the yurts for the last year. Getting rid of the TOY as I haven't wheeled it once in the almost 2 years I've owned it. Have a beater Honda now for commuting now that we live off post. Anyway if anyone is looking for a clean but needs mechanical work 80 with lockers let me know. I'm asking 3K. No rust (a bit of surface on the frame towards the trailer hitch) just few hail dents on the hood and back corner of bumper. White with swapped in really nice cloth seats. Leaks oil from the front cover and the power steering hose. Has a tick but PO drove it for a couple years like that and I've been driving it every day with it. After listening to videos on here it sounds just like what they called a valve shim. AC works as long as you are moving but when it gets close to 100 outside and you stop in traffic it can't keep up. Drivers side mirror is broke and I'm sure it needs a front end rebuild and or a birf in there as it clicks when you steer with the locker engaged.

Anyway not in a hurry and only throwing it up on here for anyone interested in a good builder platform or looking for something worth cleaning up. Ohh and it is a 1993. Did the 7 pin and put in a CDL and has blue hub on the fan. Other than that stock. Front locker does engage but rear does not. Guessing motor is froze up.

Shoot me an e-mail as I don't get on here much any more.

Hey guys, wanted to post in the ONSC forum that I still have the 1986 2F (from an FJ60) engine components for sale. I've been on the road a great deal and have not had time to follow up. If anyone is interested, please let me know; the price is negotiable, but I still want to sell all the pieces at once (as they are machined to match, and I don't really have time to part it out).

Here is the link to the original information. Everything is being stored in a temperature controlled mini-storage facility right off 485, so access is clean and easy.

Thanks

Don

Were in the middle of doing a PS install on my 40, and I still need the main PS pump bracket for a 2F motor, it is Toyota PN 44443-60020. I have the adjusting bracket, but apparently did not get the main one.

PM if you can help me - I'm also checking the vendors and parts for sale listings... or msg me at 843-709-3312

Search is down right now (Woody knows) so I'm posting here hoping for a quick hand.... @NCFJ or anyone else

Erik in SC

Erik, is that the same part for the PS bracket that was used in a 60? If so, I might have one. Let me know if that's what it would fit on and I'll look for you.

Yes, it should fit Power steering pump bracket for 40-, 55-, and 60-series, 1979-1987... according to Cruiser Parts. Supposed to look like this (?) :

That looks right for a 60.

I can't remember if I gave that bracket away or not, so I'll double-check my stash and get back to you.

I have a couple fj60 power steering pump brackets here if Johnny has already given his away.

Erik PM'd me and said he had one coming from Cruiserparts instead, since he had an order open already.

*** I got the parts FOUND in Fla, waiting for shipping and PP info. ***

Alright guys... I got the PS pump mount (from Cruiseryard - Thanks @GLTHFJ60 and @krzyabncanuck) , and found out that my adjusting bracket was from a mini truck... so I am back to the drawing board.

Soooo - The upgrade is still in progress...

I need an OEM FJ60 PS pump (whole assembly: pump, pulley, etc) :

We will have to route the belt around to an MAF Air Pump Eliminator kit so the water pump will continue to work.... kinda necessary.

Any help is appreciated !
