Given this car is $5800 asking price, perhaps I should consider spicing up my Highlander pics with some models before selling it?

1968 Chrysler Newport

1997 Lexus lx450 landcrusier

I went to look at this low-mile, locked '97 LX450 yesterday in Mooresville. It looks really clean until you really start to scrutinize it. Interior is nice. Paint is nice BUT it has been resprayed at some point and it is a Northern truck (N. Virginia). The front and rear passenger side inner fenders are rotten and the rot has crept up under the body cladding. Under side has rusty hardware but not terrible. Drives nice. Lil' driveline clunk. 1st-2nd shift is a little hard but that may be normal. I'm not an 80 guy so I don't know. It had a CEL displayed. P0401 and P0116 are the codes. The owner called me a couple of hours later to tell me he cleared the codes and says he believes they will not come back because they were old codes and the CEL had been on for two years. This flawed logic could hurt the next buyer at inspection time. The codes didn't worry me all that much but the rust did. What a shame. It really is a nice truck otherwise. Anyway, I passed on this one. At $11,500, buyer beware.

$5k max.

that rust is bad, and what you can see is only the tip of the iceberg

The way he was gushing over the Healy was nauseating!

I am a Healy fan, that was indeed a rare Healy. I owned several. Most miserable fun cars I ever owned

I found a military trailer that has the sides and canvas top. He is asking $800. The guy said he would trade for my 5x8 trailer (the kind you get at Lowe's, etc) and $400 cash. Decent deal? What say the masses? I would still need to use this trailer for hauling stuff, etc but was thinking this would work eventually for a RTT, etc.

To echo @onemanarmy that's a M105, 2.5ton trailer, big big big trailer. You'd have to swap out the landing leg and the axle at a minimum to use it with your truck.

Gotcha, thanks guys. That is why I asked here bc I know you guys are more fluent than me when it comes to this stuff. What trailer (if any) should I look for....it would primarily be pulled by an 80. Thanks!

the rails are the lightest thing about that trailer.... your imagining similar ones. read the data plate if you get a chance
Personally would not want anything much bigger than a 416 behind an 80

416's are obscenely expensive and extremely rare to find in anything like decent shape. Not willing to pay $1500+ for a rusty example but that is all that is available.

possible FJ40 for sale at the 6:30 mark

These people that let these classic, some may say priceless, vehicles sit and rot are some of the worst, in my opinion. They have mental issues.

I remember passing a Boss 302 sitting in the woods on the way to Ruby SC Front end was dented up and had surface rust but everything was in great shape. Guy must have had 40 vehicles sitting on his property.... NOT FOR SALE is all he said after I knocked on his door... LOL

Take the 5x8 lightweight trailer, add some height to it with blocks or new springs, and a flexible coupler and you have yourself an 'offroad' trailer.

I had considered modding the trailer as well....I need to figure out how to do all of that.

Now that I have a hard top in the repair line, the soft top I have will no longer be needed. It is a Bestop Super top. (I know, looks like a Jeep top. It was what I could afford at the time.) Black with no tears, rips or damaged places. I have used it for two winters and it is tight and waterproof. Includes the top, bows and all mounting hardware. It will not included soft doors, I will be keeping the half doors on for now with the Bestop half uppers until I can find two steel doors. Purchased in 2015 for $800, asking $475.

Described as in the photo below.
