watch what you say in the state of NC. I think OCMS says it best....."If I die in Raleigh at least I'll die free"....All in all it's a great state where can you go offshore fishing on friday for bluefin tuna and then head to the mediocre slopes in the mountains on saturday to ski......

That is very true. I love out West and the beaches are great here as well. You can actually go in the water without a full 3mm wetsuit with hoodie and boots. The "hills" out here are beautiful and you actually get a fall where we are green all year. I think if the army didn't always stick its bases in the most god aweful places thruout the country more people would want to stay in. But then again they get this land for cheap becuase nobody wanted to live in those parts. It is like Fayetteville and the surrounding areas is just a large vortex of everything that can be wrong with this world both people wise and geography wise. I'm actually going to be really sad when I leave here. Deirdre is trying to convince me to find a way to stay. Even driving up to Highpoint the other weekend was a very nice change in topography and culture. Still think the best part about this state though is the Olde North State Cruisers. I think anyone that has been to fayetteville can attest to what a Drag it is. If I get my wish for flight school I move to Enterprise Alambama...another of America's hidden Jewels...sad part it is still in the dirty coal stage :).

Not to add to the chat...but I love NC and so far I haven't visited a state that I'd rather live in. People here would in most cases do anything for you and we have access to great beaches/fishing, mountains (with not so good boarding) and good jobs.

There are some not so good places/cities in NC but the I haven't lived there...

Chatty chatty....there are only two things in NC that I don't like. Skeeters and humidity. That said, both are less than where I came from in Hotlanta. After just driving more than half way across the country in a 40, I can tell you that there are LOTS of beautiful areas in the US. If you have never done it, I strongly encourage you to drive across this great land and take some time to "walkabout". It's good for the soul and it makes you appreciate where you live even more. I would say that NC is in my top three places to live.....but I would rather buy my trucks from out west. ;) Less rust.....

working on it. Just looked at a 55 in Denver before I flew home. rust wise, it was pretty solid....just no paint to speak of....or interior.:hillbilly:
Next time I head out west, I'll look for something for you....what you want?

That's a pretty broad question...I want a lot of trucks, some of which I already have. I'll shoot you a PM of some specifics.

Well put. I must say with the 46 states i've been too and over 20 countries the place I would live out of all of them is right where I grew up. No place on earth that i've seen offers a 40 minute drive to the ocean, desert or 9k foot drives into the mountains. Three things that I love the most. I can be snow boarding for a few hours then swiming at the beach within 90 minutes or racing through desert trails. In all fairness when I get done with school and if I can find a job there I will move back. But at the same time I love North Carolina as it is quite different and charming. I love all it has to offer and the only thing I would change is the freeway system. It takes for ever to get anywhere. OBX is one of the best places in the U.S., in my opinion, but the 7+ hour drive for such a short distance is insane.
I would agree with Jason that the best part is the ONSC club though :grinpimp:

Don't go hating on my home state! Enterpirse is home of the Boll weevil monument, the only monument in the world to a bug! :hillbilly:

I really love AL, but outside of the major cities it's a pretty different place - similar to NC, but in the big cities everyone still have a southern accent.
I also really like NC as others said, close to the beach & mountains (except all the Yankees!).

Al - I hear you on the NC interstate...seems nothing is really direct, but thanks to our high taxes they all are in pretty good shape.

Damn this has turned into chat, but when's the ski trip since everyone's bringing up baording and mountains and stuff!:D

Can't agree more Barry. I drove out to SLC when I was in college and while it was a hell of a long drive solo, it was more than worth it.

Well, here's an interesting bit for you guys. Just looked at a blue 78 fj40 in Winston for a friend here. They listed it on Craigs for something like 11k or so. It's SLAP full of bondo and rust everywhere. When the owner's son got there, I asked him how bad the rust was before the paint job. He said he didn't know, that his Dad had done all the work. I politely noted to him that all the body seams had been skimmed over and it was hard to tell how much work had been done or just covered.
At that point, he slammed the door, locked it, cussed me out, said he didn't have to sell it and I obviously thought I knew more than I did. He stormed off leaving us standing there.

Well.....guess he told me.
Point being, the blue 78 is a POS body wise and the guy selling it is a complete hot head. I would steer clear of this one simply because the guy was such a jerk.

Thanks for the heads up Barry.

I think everyone in the area needs to pay him a visit and tell him exactly what Barry told him....

I sent him a nice email thanking him for his professionalism. heh....
I hope it never hits ebay. Some poor sap may get taken. It may be mechanically strong, and it does have nice gauges and jumps, but every body panel on there is full or bondo....except for the front two fenders, which are new. I wouldn't pay more than 3k for it and it would have to mechanically perfect. I never got that far. Didn't even open the hood. Shoot, I lifted the floormat and the bondo wasn't even painted or sanded on the floorpans.

It will go on flea bay and some poor person will get it without looking at it and then will be upset, starting something.
