Still pleased with the Kenda Klever RTs? How are they wearing?

I don't want to speak for @TLC2013 , but we were talking about it this weekend and they look brand new. I did not see any chipping or obvious wear to speak of. And its not for a lack of trying 😂

I am, they are fantastic off road and on road is especially good considering the aggressive tread pattern. No regrets at all. Just Wish I could squeeze in the 35x10.5r17 but with the LCs KDSS it would be an issue as I don’t plan on doing any fab/relocation work of the KDSS. The RTs in LT 275/70r18s measure super tall and wide for a 275 tire so I don’t feel a need to go up just yet.

After 18,000 miles there is some road noise present between 45-55mph but not bad at all. I have been doing 5,000 mile 5 tire rotations and they are wearing perfectly.

That's great. I've been looking for replacements to my worn Nitto RGs. They are at about 44k right now.

I think they would make a good replacement for the RGs, the Kendas have way more siping, two to three per tread block and perform well In the wet stuff. price wise is unbeatable too, or was at least when I bought them a 18 months ago. All 5 were under $900.

Like my Kenda rt as well, but prices are up and the 35x10.5r17 were $300 per a couple months ago. However that was when there was very little nationwide stock. eBay has them $250 each today. Which is super competitive imo.

The size I prefer, 285/75R18 is harder to find and more expensive. $309 or so is what I'm seeing. Still a bargain compared to the AT3s from Cooper and Toyo

I purchased the 275s through Walmart would be a good place to also check and eBay too.

Oh yeah. First places I went and both are out of stock.

Traction control and bad line choices will only get you so far
Ooof hopefully it was a slow slide down the wall and you escaped damage! Seen many rigs slide off and bounce/tip back into the wall and mangle the passenger side. I took my 08 LX up a few years ago not thinking much of it... been up it a dozen times in my FJ stock with rear locker and progressive build up over the years to fully locked on 35's and had totally lost appreciation for how TERRIFYING this can be without lockers when ATRAC kicks in. Love your build man great to see you out wheeling it!

😂

We live in Boise. It’s a very nice and scenic ride up to McCall. We love it here!

I was just browsing the thread and said "Hey I know that LX!" I'm in East Boise, have seen your rig around a couple times.

care to share some pics of your wing bracket solution at the ahc reservoir?
Sure, the short answer is that this bumper doesn't have a support bracket for the wings from the frame to the wing. I'm not an expert on bumpers or this kind of manufacturing, but I do think it is a rather special bit of kit. The entire bumper 's literally one piece of steel bent and folded into shape with internal gussets.

Now make no mistake, this bumper was not designed for the US Spec model. The Euro/African spec LC200's have AHC, but they don't have the rated tow hitch receiver. So I had to cut a hole in the bumper and modify the factory receiver to get this to fit. Desperate times call for desperate measures, beggars can't be choosers, whatever cliche you'd like to use, this is the only bumper I had access to other than the ARB which has the brackets for the wings, so this was really my only option and I made it work. Having said that, I think I would do it again regardless.

Well it's pretty ideal that it is made for AHC! As you say, cutting out the tow hitch square is probably some drudgery, but not particulary 'hard'.
Post up the website and vendor info!

The bumper is a Gobi-X LC200 rear bar. They are handmade in South Africa. The website for their 200 parts is here. You can email Shane directly with questions at info@gobi-x.co.za.

Here is a shot of the mostly final install.

She's really coming together. Looking good.

Regarding the rear bumper shell, can't tell exactly but it looks like the clearance is too tight. Not sure if you're done, but it needs something more like 1/2" clearance between the bumper shell and steel bumper as they will flex relative to each other.
