Undocumented Mechanic-I Am Not CDAN
Greetings fellow Toyota enthusiheads, I would like to make a call to arms of sorts.
I was recently reading in Toyota Trails about membership in TLCA being flat. So I'm putting it to you non TLCA members on this forum to ante up and join the gang.
If some of you are saying "what is TLCA or Toyota Trails?"
Take a trip over to tlca.org and find out.
To the some that may say "Clubs, bah! I'm fine on my own"
I understand your position. Clubs can be a drag if your in the wrong one. That's why you're drawn to CSC. A loose affiliation, no BS, no demands, no politics. Being a member of TLCA requires as little of you as your dues. No meetings ever. Of course you can also become an active volunteer if you want.
To the some of you that may say "Ack, more dues. What do I get? It's not worth it. Blah, blah, blah"
To you I say, get some perspective, nothing is free, but look what you can get for the price of an average tank of gas these days. Membership in an international organization.
And a subscription to a bi monthly magazine that is written by and for Toyota heads. A Magazine that contains nothing but Toyota related stories, tech info and advertises stuff you can actually use on your rig.
To me, this is worth the money right here, there's no other publication like it.
No BS articles about bolt on crap for your Jeep.
No 4-wheeler of the year proclamations for Jumbo trucks or H2's and H3's that will likely never leave the pavement.
A classified ad section that has TOYOTA stuff for sale.
Stories about real people doing real 4 wheeling in a Toyota 4x4.
Stories about real home built projects by real people and the real Toyota specific creativity and solutions they come up with. No phony bolt on advertisers junk project stories here. "We got 40 more seat of the pants HP from our Liberty with a K&N filter"
When I first joined years ago, Trails was nothing but a newsletter and it was all about 40's,
4-Runners and Mini Trucks. Then came the Wagon Revolution. 60's, 62's and Piggy's began to appear more and more in the articles. Then the 80's and 100's. And now, as time marches on, the TLCA is embracing the new FJ Cruiser and the Trails magazine is turning up more and more of them. It's one big happy Toyota nut case family.
So if you are not a member of the TLCA, and you own a Toyota 4x4, c'mon in the water's fine. Cough up the dues help and the brotherhood soldier on.
In the immortal words of Red Green "We're all in this together, I'm pullin' for ya"
