For those of you who've purchased reconditioned or replica wheels, is there a significant difference to the OEM wheel? Has anyone broken a wheel because it was reconditioned or a replica? I ask only because I need 2 stock 18" LX wheels and most of the few that are out there happen to be either reconditioned or replicas. Anyone have experience in this area? Search didn't yield much.

How do you recondition a wheel? Is it just cleaned and repainted?

They're sometimes straightened if they're bent, and sometimes sanded down curb rash if they're scarred up bad. And then repainted.

Personally, I would not buy replicas given the availability of OE wheels. Buy 4 and sell two, if needed. Reconditioned wheels could be okay but they might or might not be an exact color match... if that matters.

Good used wheels are readily available around here for about any model. Someone is always going out and spending big bux on fancy vanity rims and they sell their old ones.

It's always about timing! Trust me.... Mine sucks! I purchased a set of 5 16" LC rims and was planning on running 35's on them... Now I'm reconsidering that, and planning on running them on my 18's. The two wheels i need to match are for my m416 trailer.

I just posted 4 18"s for $100 in the classifieds. Also look on eBay. It's usually more than local but you can find some decent deals on OEM wheels.
