Hey all. Apologies for my earlier mishap posting an empty thread, it's been a rough morning. 😆 Here's what was supposed to be here originally;

Although I've always liked big hoop bumpers and big tires, that level of build just hasn't been necessary for this car yet.

I never intended it to be an OEM + setup, that's what it turned out to be. Basic, simple, relatively light (if you take out all my gear), and functional without being over the top. Of course, there are downsides to this type of setup - no animal protection, minimal rock/tree protection, etc.

2007 V8 4runner with over 200k on it. Lots of maintenance, new steering rack, tranny, rear end, frame patches, needs new LCAs/UCAs, it's a never ending money pit but I love it.

The 8.2 swap almost could be it's own tech post, but since I already messed up once today, I won't attempt another thread. 😁

Fair warning, I don't care what you say about the gear pattern. We can discuss patterns all day and nobody will ever agree that any are correct. 🤤 My dad's been building hobbyist off-road rigs for 20 years, he has some idea of what works and doesn't.

Pressing the new wheel bearings on and figuring out how the hell the park brakes go together was fun.

Car weighs 5400lbs.

Another pretty big update; front end rebuild.

I've replaced the SPC upper balljoints four times in 80k miles, the bushings were shot, and I was told that two of the four LCA cams were siezed. This made a simple $600 UCA swap turn into a $2500+ project.

This has been a long time coming, dealing with very annoying creaks, clunks, pops, and torn CV boots for a long time. Happy to get rid of the garbage SPCs for normal bushings and balljoints.

LCAs are in surprisingly good shape for 80k miles. Bushings are dry but not sloppy, balljoints had some grease seep out at some point but are otherwise also not super sloppy. To my surprise, all the LCA hardware came out very easily and wasn't siezed. Oh well, did em anyways.

UCAs on the other hand are completely toasted and need totally rebuilt.

Roughly $2500 in parts. 2 and a half days of work. Lots of upside down welding and grinding took a lot of day 2. Overall not bad at all for our first time messing with this style IFS suspension and CV setup in this manor.

Apache Offroad UCAs
OEM LCAs and hardware
HFW spindle gussets
Marlin Crawler frame brace
New CVs and diff seals
Rebooted old CVs
New lower spherical bearings in the front coilovers
Trimmed skid plates to clear the frame braces
Fresh alignment

Like a new car. Quiet, planted, predictable. Hoping it stays that way for a while...

Good work, that's a lot. I did uppers, lowers, cv's, coilovers, and hub/bearing assemblies last summer, though I cheaped out on most of the parts as I couldn't afford OEM prices on all of that in one go. Takeoff Bilstein's from a 5th Gen TRD pro, 5th Gen UCA's as well as I'm not lifted that much, and then Napa for the cv's and LCA's, with koyo hub bearing assemblies. Cam bolts were seized and a huge pain in the *** to get off. I keep hearing horror stories about the SPC's. I had freedom off-road uppers on a GX that I had no issues with, and I have JBA's on my tundra now that have been good.

Hey man I was wondering if you could help me out a bit with the wiring of the 8.2 locker into the v8 4Runner. I’m wanting to do this.
