Hi all,

The interior of my car is nearly perfect except for some small seat bottom bolster wear. Because I have a bad back and the seats have 240k on them, I decided to order a new driver seat bottom cushion. When pulling the seat, if I were to steam the existing cushion and it not work, I wanted a new cushion on hand.

When I started looking for the seat cushion , I came across the part number for oem ivory leather for an 06lx. I figure that there is no way it’s really available but I placed the order anyway. The next day I was told there was a national backorder for the part but it would be in in 2-4 weeks. I told the vendor to place the order and see what happens, having no expectation that it could be truly available, cause I believe I had looked at various sites in the past for oem leather but no luck.

Yesterday I received shipping confirmation that the seat cover has shipped….!

Is it so, is OEM leather really coming my way?

Anyone have any guesses?

I’m excited and would love to hear if anyone else has procured oem leather for their 100lx recently.

Will share pics when it arrives.

I ordered through discount parts monster, just another Toyota dealer. I did see it elsewhere once I looked. No problem sharing since its on the way;)

So for this price, which is expensive but reasonable to me, I would think its leather coming. Wondering if I may do the seat back cushion as well but that leather is perfect, and maybe for a next winter project. Im a big fan of steaming foam back into shape, its quite amazing to see if youve never done it.

This listed as ivory.
I randomly read a thread about seat cushion availability and I figure I can buy now and install whenever. The recent movement of the car market will make these items disappear so I am buying random things here and there. I did a full leather replacement myself a few years ago on an LC so it honestly should be quick and painless...Im very excited if so.

Probably good to go. I ordered a 'seat back' that had gotten a tear in it and received it about 3 weeks, perfect replacement panel with Ivory leather cover.

I ordered a LX470 cushion almost two years ago knowing that I will someday install it. Note that LX uses a different cushion from an LC.

We are lucky that we can still order upholstery parts for vehicles over 20 years old.

Parts came. Nice and fresh…. I’m guessing they are made recently. Is exactly as the lc leather was that I replaced though lx leather. Same Toyota clips, sleeves etc. Kinda feel like I need to do this next weekend now. I kinda have this thing where I feel as though when having a used car you inherit the posture of the driver before you. With long upper legs although not tall, I installed the seat height spacers from dessert does it and not a new cushion to round it out. Pics to follow.

Website address for the order?

Really no need to be buying OEM leather . There's a few US based companies that have good alternatives. Could prob get a full set for what Lexus will charge for just the bottom cushion.

I will definitely post pics.

Per the cost. Value is in the oem product. I have recovered two rows of an lc100 for less then this cover. I had to do all of that because of the matching and a ton more wear and tear. So on this truck since it’s only one cushion, the value of keeping it oem is higher. You will see I contributed to the seat covers thread as one of few to try that diy. Hog rings and a factory-like (connection points are not the same on aftermarket) fit took me about six hours per seat section. This also included steaming and repair. Happy to only have to do 1.5 hrs this way.

Interesting, sounds depressing. I am gearing up to install the LCH leather on my own. Doesn't seem to bad to get it done in a weekend but we'll see how many tears I shed.

Not depressing at all. Its a time consuming craft with incredible results and the feelings of a good job like this are immeasurable. Just buy good hog ring pliers and the proper size rings and it will be easier. Buy cheap pliers and it will take twice as long or more…and buy the wrong rings and they don’t fit well. Cutting the old rings also requires sharp longer cutters so you don’t have to pull the ring and possibly damage foam.

Remove seat from truck
Remove back panel from seat.
Separate top and bottom
Remove old leather and cut hog rings
Steam old foam.
Reglue heater elements if needed
Re hog ring new leather.
Reverse order back into the truck.

Top and bottom taking 4-6 hours per seat is very fast first time doing it.

Even more time if you have to cut any hole for head or armrests which is not for the faint of heart

Agree with the above. You may want the set that also includes the angled tool. Also, make sure you have a sharp pair of snips for the old hog rings. It will save your hands.

Additionally, since there are so many sets of hog rings out there, make sure you get some thing that is either brass or stainless steel, so you don’t have rust forming in the future from random moisture

So, I finally got around to installing the new driver side seat cushion and oem seat leather bottom cover. I need to clean the seat belt latch mech as a new one is nla in ivory, and every order Ive tried used has not been correct. As an fyi, the seat belt latches, buckles and airbag connectors can be any of two varieties throughout the model range with parts changing mid model year and vendors of used parts have not gotten me exactly what I needed.

On to the cushions.

Old leather was only worn on the bolster but the cushion needed steaming or replacing, so I did the leather at the same time because it takes so long. I’ve got sciatica, have the seat jackers which help and thought having a flat new cushion would be a nice treat. The po’s leaned right and likely weighed more than me so the seat caused some pain.

Old vs new leather. Old still has the heaters.

In spirit of oem, which is shown I copied the attachment method which reduces bunching of the heater from sliding in when entering the truck. A tag gun and 1inch pink tags from Michaels did the job in addition to permatex automotive spray glue.

Old vs new cushions. The old cushion is not torn and could probably have done well with just steam. But, knowing parts become nla and while I was in there, I replaced it.
