My OEM bottle jack handle has three (or was it four) individual pieces. I seemed to have lost the last piece with the hook that goes into the jack in the move to N.M.. Does anyone have one laying around in the garage?

Thanks.

The jack, handle, and tools are impossible to find at the pick-n-pull.

I don't know what it is about Toyota bottle jacks that make them so desirable. I did have one boneyard tell me they trash all the jacks for liability reasons. That said, I did come away with a jack and tools from the pick-n-pull here in town awhile back, and I frequently find scissor jacks lying around. Used one on the FJ62 last weekend :D.

Ya cheap bastard, come buy a new one for less than you would spend making one......;)

I personally love Toyota bottle jacks, especially the old cast ones. I carry two of them in my FJ40 and they serve as jack stands if needed for repairs. The quality went down in the early 80s when they went to stamped metal housings, but oddly, both carry the same part number on the body of the jack.

The cast jacks also come with forged extensions and hand cranks. Really a finely made piece of equiptment, and actually much better quality then it needs to be. I guess Toyota got wise at some point.

One other nice feature is that the cast jacks can be taken apart and completely lubed and rebuilt with new bearings in about 15 minutes. Typical of a Land Cruiser part.

Most of the old cast jacks I have seen are yellow, but I recently picked up one that was red. Anyone know if that was a stock color (it looks like it).

Ali-I know you are cheap, but you arn't seriously considering making the terminal end of the extension handle are you??? Never mind, of course you are!:flipoff2:

Just for the record, the stamped jacks can also be taken apart and greased up.

Dan,

Can the handle be purchased or do I have to get a whole new Jack setup?

Ali,

I looked into this awhile back. I seem to recall the various parts are available as separate items. I don't recall if I had to get creative or not (like look up the part for a 4Runner instead of a LC).

Ali, get a crow bar in your wallet. Rod sub-assy, jack handle, FZJ80: $12.69 list which would be about $10 from Dan. The time spent looking at the boneyard is not worth it.

Ali,

Does this help? Kept from the '76 pig I bought for parts. I don't think I have the jack (going to clean the garage some tonight) so you can have it if I don't find it.

If Ali passes on those, give them to him anyway and he can give them to me on the next run.:grinpimp:

Wow, that's actually worth spending the $7 in gas to get it.:bounce:

Dan always has my Toyota parts delivered to my house. It takes an extra hour or two but that shouldn't cause you any grief.
