This may be a bit trivial but I'll ask anyways. My 92 did not come with the OEM gas cap. It appears that the door has a place to 'hang' the OEM one but the aftermarket one does not fit. As often as I fill it up I'm always trying to find a place to put that silly cap. Set it up on the roof rack one time and it rolled away on me. Does the OEM have a plastic hanger etc...to retain the cap? ???

Mine does not have a hanger but it does fit in the slot on the door.
I believe the OEM cap is not unreasonably priced, you might want to check on the price.... give c-dan a try ;)

Like junk stated, I replaced mine when I purchased the cruiser

Mine is OEM and has no strap but fits in the slit on the door. Not a bad idea to get a new one every 7-8 years.

OEM is 12-14 bucks.

Worth doing, I had a decrease in stink with mine.

Stink?

you smelled gas in the cabin? That's not good.

No, I had a stink outside the cabin (at the cap).

Not sure of the validity of the following, but I have heard a bad gas cap can cause a MIL ? anyone else ever hear that?

Yes it will on later OBDII vehicles.

In the spirit of there's not dumb question :-[ , what's a MIL?

MIL = Malfunction Indicator Lamp; aka Check Engine light.
