1) to look cool
2) to keep cooler
3) to clear mud off rotor
those are my guesses, based on why people have funky shaped rotors on mountain bikes (like hopes, maguras, some of the avids)

what is the loss in stopping power? not much to grab is there?
there might be a reason, but they sure match the gay wheel, tire combo
this is from the portaltek.com thread in the 100 forum. i can see no performance gains form that at all
Wilwood sells some like that for ultra lightweight drag cars that dont need that much to get down from speed. It does look cool though, and i guess if youre gonna blow 10k+ on some portals you need to get your moneys worth eh?

They say they are for low temp applications, which fourwheeling would probably fall under. Of course, wheeling would also fall under the category where you dont need to save 3 pounds on your brake rotor weight either.

Less surface area but an increased friction coefficient. Your pads probably wouldn't last very long. I think these rotors make you more attractive to the ladies, but I'm not sure.
these guys have a higher coefficient of friction? i don't know about that...
they do look pretty cool...i can't argue with that.
they also add 10-15 horsepower, you can't forget that

They make a style like that for motorbikes shaped like a ninja star cross drilled and slotted, cooling is the number 1 factor. Due to the rotor being cooler the pads won't wear out as quick. Brake pads used to be an asbestos composite that had no probs with cooling, now days they are made of a simular composite but heat transfer is a high factor in the pads...........I am jibbering on..........
They look cool and work well on motorcycles.
On a wheeling truck? meh. There's always something to spend your money on that actually makes it work better that I would rather spend my money on.

That looks kinda thin for a truck rotor.
its built for a trophy truck so i think it will do fine
