Unfortunately, I'm out. While you all are headed my way, I'm going your way.

The house has not sold and now I'm in the process of getting it rented...again. Probably will hit the Balloon Fiesta while there for the kids.

If anybody is rolling through Farmington on Friday, I can give you all a few hour tour of Chokecherry.

I plan on leaving at about 9:00 Thursday. I'll keep my radio on 146.46 (KF5IGY).
 
if Kit is willing to wait a couple hours and Jarred can hurry up 1-1.5 hours, we can have you both in the caravan. it's always nice to have a group together in case something happens.

I will only have cb for the drive up. I don't have a new antenna for my ham. it will be in my 40 for the wheeling part though.
 
Man I wish I was going. My original excuse was that I had another vacation planned and couldn't spare the money or time off. I had to cancel that vacation because I got a new job and couldn't get the time off. Then, Danise had surgery last week and is still far from recovered. Please bring back some good stories and pictures. Maybe I'll be able to go next year.
 
Bionic, I really don't want to leave any later than 9:00. I'll be traveling fairly slow with the trailer, and I'll be making extra stops to get gas and to walk the dogs. Google maps says the trip will take 6:27 with no stops.

I blew the engine in my Isuzu Saturday night, so that really screwed up my plans. I still made it to Moab with my friends though. As painful as it is, I'm renting a Rubicon for the week. I hate how capable this thing is...

Anyway, we should be here until Saturday. Hopefully we can run a trail or two with you guys. So far, we've done Poison Spider and Hell's Revenge. Hell's Gate was fun, although I was pretty nervous running it in a rental.

We are leaving Thurs AM. Towing pop up so I might be a little slow for some. Willing to travel in a group if there is a meet time. If not, I hope to see friendly faces on the road. CB ch?
Were reserved in Canyon lands campground.
Fri am is there a meet spot ?
Trails - I am looking for more than a stocker can handle, with a relatively low risk of significant body damage. But being a first timer, hope to go with some patient individuals who can show us the ropes.

AJ, no problem. you and everyone along will be taken care of. patience is the name of the game. you will probably enjoy the trails we have been mentioning. the first day or 2 will probably soil your seats until you realize how well your rig can do in spite of any experience or lack of. you are the type of guy that will enjoy the adrenaline. :D

we are leaving with the noonish group Thursday and will have a big overhead camper and towing my 40 on a flatbed, so no problem with slower speed for me.:steer: oh, cb channel 40.
 
Thanks shawn. Hoping to get on the road 8-9ish. if anyone else is leaving then call, text or Ill be on the Ch 40. So if you see a white 80 on the side of the road...... If I get delayed much past that i would try to meet up with the noon group. Which route is recommended ? Up near Durango or through Shiprock?

Lets get a meeting place and time for Friday morning. Most are staying at slickrock, meet there or somewhere else in town at 9 am.

Crystal works till 12:30. Im guessing 1-1:30 is realistic.

So Steve and I are meeting at the North portal at high noon. anyone else going at that time?
we are towing so we are going the Shiprock route. it's much flatter. Durango route is more scenic with more hills.

for Friday meetup, let's say at Slickrock 9am, since most of us are staying there. sound good?

I'm going to meet bonfire at 8:30 at the Giant station at Corrales Rd and 528 (N end of Corrales).

Kit, I especially want to hear from you what trails/type of trails you want to run. I really don't know your set up, experience or interest on the matter. we want everyone to be included and feel comfortable. we can talk about it up there if you like.
 
If anybody wants to meet us at noon call and let us know because depending on how things work out we may alter our rendezvous point and time a little.
 
Bionic, I prefer a little milder trails than some of you guys do. I still have a stock front bumper.

get an idea what trails you would like to do. here is a good resource if you don't know already-Moab, Utah, 4WD Trails
look at anything 3 or 3+ and lower rating. we'll work out what exactly to run tomorrow evening to Friday morning.
 
have lots of fun y'all. We just returned from a 5,000 mile road trip and we ain't going anywhere for a while!
