A word on classic car auctions in general. So far , we have found that a good classic car auction is the best car show around. You get to go and see a huge array of really cool cars and trucks and on top of that, if you are feeling sporty about it you can even buy one, or two or.......
We are going to auctions right now trying to get a good read on where the general car market is and where it may be headed. We also spend a good amount of time pouring over car after car and looking at all the small details that when added up make or break a build. I come away with more ideas than I have time to fulfill them.
We intend to buy the right vehicle on the right day at the right price as they come along. The hard part is to keep emotion out of it and bid with only business in mind. Seems that Heather does not have the buying and selling of cars out of her system. I just plain enjoy the entire experience. We are looking for the deals and steals, watching incredible vehicles cross the block and have their fate decided in an average of two minutes thirty seconds is entertaining all on it's own. I come away with all kinds of little bits of information and build ideas that I hope I can translate into our own builds down the road.
If you are considering going to an auction, by all means do it. The more the merrier. The more eyes on any one vehicle the more little tidbits you will find. Jerry and I poured over a Jeepster he liked, pointing out all the little hits and misses, you know, because we are car guys, right. Meanwhile, Heather is standing behind the vehicle with a no go look on her face, holding up a finger with oil on it, straight from the tail pipe. Ahhhhh the humility, two self described car guys handed their lunch by a horse woman. The shame of it all
