hi,

does anyone know what tool i could use to datalog data from obd1 port i tried using elm327 but it wont read the ecu,

i was wondering if i could get data like timing and commanded afr or does it only read codes.

its for 2000 land cruiser 100 series 1fz-fe
 
no one knows the protocol the ecu uses for diagnostic? or if there is a dealer scanner i could buy online

i have been reading online and i have came around some terms like eobd m-obd dlc, dlc3, techstream and other things not really sure which one i need
 
Ah, interesting. You might have better luck in the 80-series forum. Except for a very fortunate few, all of us in the 100-series forum are rocking the 2UZ V8.

the thing is the 80 series uses different ecu not really sure what is the difference other than 80-series is 4 plug harness and distributor while 100-series is 3 plugs and coilpack not really sure what else in term of electrical
 
OBD1? Since 96 it's been OBD2...So many options...

the land cruiser have both obd1 and obd2 port one in the engine bay and one behind the throttle, i think the obd2 port is m-obd not an actual obd2, i tried using obd2 scanner it didnt work, does any one know m-obd scanner i could buy cant find any online
 
True...I have had better luck through the under hood diagnostic port on my 2001 LC connecting TechStream with an adapter then through the OBD2 port under the dash to get full function...

I don't exactly understand what your trying to accomplish...Just want to read codes? Any OBD2 scan tool will do this, just make sure your fuses are good so the OBD2 port is being powered properly. You can even use a cheap Bluetooth dongle with Torque App on your phone or Android stereo head unit.

If your looking to access more indepth 'enhanced' functions you will need a more professional aftermarket scan tool or ideally Techstream. Be aware you are very limited to what you can change or access with Techstream on early LC 100's.

If you use the MudSearch for Techstream you will find writeups on how to make it function with the least amount of effort. Not all adapters are made equal, best to spend the extra money and purchase from a reputable source. The 22 to 16 pin adapter is nothing more then a crossover cable, it has no magic inside.

Yes, but it might be relevant to the question asked. While the US LC/LX has been OBDII compliant since the 1996 80 series, that isn't necessarily the case for a foreign market LC/LX. A 1FZ-FE in a 100 series tends to scream "foreign market", as the US models were only offered in a 2UZ-FE.

i tried that i flashing light from the elm327 but i dont detect the ecu,
yeah i know its a cross over but do i need it

i live in southern california right now but my car is in qatar, its gcc market land cruiser as far as i know its not obd2 compliant

I have no direct experience with the GCC models, but it is my understanding, that it should be "M-OBD" (not OBD2)

So yes, in a nut shell you require an OBD1 22 pin adapter to the diagnostic port and a scan tool cable of reading it.
