As can be seen from the photo, one of the downstream O2 sensor studs is messed up. I tried cleaning the threads, but I can't get my thread chaser started (M8x1.25). All the other studs are great. Any solutions here?
- Is the stud replaceable?
- Is it possible to salvage the stud with some other thread repair method/tool?

The studs are not serviced by Toyota. You buy the pipe to get them. If you can get it out a 90116-08020 might work. That number is an intake manifold stud for a 1FZ

90116-08211 may also work. I'd be inclined to try that one first. It's an exhaust manifold stud for the air injection pipes on a 93-94 1FZ.

Just wanted to close the loop.

I was able to remove the old stud thanks to the power of magnetism and Liquid Wrench:

Only replaced the damaged stud, but used new nuts.

The stud is part number 90126-08001
And the nut is part number 90179-08059
I just wasted an hour looking for those. Thanks so much for including the part numbers for the stud and nut! Excellent posts and pictures, much appreciated

Thanks for posting this info. I am in the process of replacing all my 02 sensors. The nuts are very rusty, three of them came out without much issue, but the fourth is mush, I am going to have to replace the stud. What year is your LX? I have a 06/02 production date. The nuts I bought are 90179-08101 and they work, it says that stud does not fit my vehicle, but it could be wrong. I am considering removing the cat to fix the stud, it's the one on the far right and there is not much room. Did you have much trouble with the cat still on the vehicle?

My LX is a 2005. I'm not sure why they would change the O2 sensor bung between model years, but all is possible. I was originally going to use a torch to heat up the stud for removal, but the location so close to the body made me think twice, hence the induction heater. Once I committed to using the induction heater, there were no further issues.

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. I looked at it again this morning and decided to remove the cat. I didn't really have a way to grab onto the stud once I got it lubricated and heated up. With it removed, I heated it with a propane torch and then hammered on an 11MM extractor socket and the nut broke free. The threads were a little damaged on the stud, so I repaired those and now it's ready for a new O2 sensor. I think I'm going to put on a new muffler, so once I get one, everything will go back on.
Have a great weekend!

What is the part number for the sensor? do you mind posting it? Thanks

I bought Denso, which is OEM, through RockAuto. Denso upstream part# is 2344169; downstream part# is 2344154. Use this code for 5% off 237920114187284265. Enter it in where it says "how did you hear about us."
